Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

Take off the sleeper, bumper, and stacks and it's a nice truck.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

I think that one I posted is a prime example of someone that potentially has some talent, they are just misguided as heck. Example: The stacks frenched into the bedsides is a GREAT idea...that freaking sleeper needs to go though and the stacks need to be behind the cab and shorter.

I'd like to see a pic from the rear on the dually.

Thanks
I still think it needs more lift in the front, but maybe I'll take some leafs out of the back instead. it's got a rear spring pack made for a wrecker, so it rides rough empty. That picture actually looks level, but the ground was uneven. Sitting on pavement it's still got a heck of a rake to it, front doesn't even look lifted. So it looks like it was jacked up in the rear, and the duals make it look like that's why it sits so high, when its not. I need to get a welder or pay someone to do some work for me. I hate not having a tailgate but the hinge rotted off and I need to get some metal on there to mount a new hinge to. I have two new chrome bumpers for it, but the rear has to be cut off, and the front I can't change until I swap the lights into the grill. Everytime I try to do something there's something else that has to be done first. It looks pretty rough like this, you have to picture it with a chrome bumper and a nice tailgate with all the silverado trim.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

nice enough wheels but they look out of place on that truck. that front bumper is a cut down front off a semi. I'm not a big fan of stacks, particularly when they are old semi stacks, and not even made for a pickup. I can appreciate the work that went into frenching them into the bedside, but the end result I have to give a thumbs down. I'm pretty set in my ways, and I've always felt form follows function, so if it doesn't serve a purpose I usually don't like it, plus whenever I see sheetmetal cut I think rust. There's no good reason to put stacks on a gas engine, or on a 6.2 diesel, which is what they truck would have come with. Course it could be a Cummins swap, but that's another story. A mudtruck or a puller I can see. They've gotten hugely popular with new diesel pickups, everybodys hacking up their beds and making a $50,000 truck loud and obnoxious and giving up bedspace just for looks. It does look cool when it's a tuned diesel than can roll coal.
I actually considered doing it on my 82, only because my existing dual exhaust is good right up to the front of the bed, and after that it needs replacing. My bed floor is not so great that I wouldn't cut it, it would be a pretty easy job. Might actually look kind of cool, but I don't think I want to have to push my toobox back to make room, and I wanted to put a backrack on for my light bar. So I'd have to put my lightbar on the roof. And even if it looked cool, I feel like I'd have to justify having a reason to do the stacks.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

tbi 350, three speed manual with low. spent its life pulling a tandem dual gooseneck with a backhoe on it. the guts have been completely yanked outta this poor engine. gutless doesn't do it justice.

but it still looks cool.

anyone got a fresh 350 they wanna sell me?

other than a motor i don't have any as of yet. have to tackle the rebuild this motor or buy a reman motor question. this one, just by looking at the plugs, has one bad hole or at least one real oily plug and seven clean ones.

i need to find a rear seat. i have a 1985 blazer with red buckets and a console i may stick in the front and move the current bench seat to the back.

oh, i've checked yer build thread. as much as i admire the truck you're building and the engine you've came up with, i am not even gonna come close with this thing. i just want a good solid driver, wood hauler, boat puller..boats only two miles from the lake..and hunting rig.
