Sits nice. Always entertaining to see before and after side-by-side

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Thanks guys.... Haven't even fired the engine yet. Lol. Still up in the air as what to do for a carb. Was always an edelbrock guy. Never had good luck with the old holleys. Advice welcome on that topic. Interior all done.. As is all the wiring shy of under the hood. Engine/tranny done and installed. (383 with AFR heads/built th400). Was going to install serpentine setup off a 90's V8 with reverse drive water pump. Advice welcome on that one too.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
I've had good luck with the Edelbrock / AFB but a Holley is winner too. I'd go either way, whichever you can muster a better deal on. Just make sure she's clean and calibrated as it came out of the box.
Here's what I'm hoping to do... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ae...o-bk/overview/ With an automatic you may want to stick with the vacuum secondaries though.

Thanks Aussie! I appreciate the compliments. Nice thing about a build thread is I can edit out all the screw ups I make. Lol. Nobody hears the cussing or sees the flying tools when it doesn't work out the first time.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
I believe Edelbrock bought out Carter who made AFB.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Yup, the Edelbrock Performer is a re-badged Carter AFB. The "AVS" is adjustable vacuum secondaries, which will work sweet in your truck. Depending on your usage, they've got two or three sizes. I would go big, especially with your CID and kool heads. All you would probably need to do is set the idle and idle air then adjust the secondary opening. Should be pretty spot-on out of the box in terms of jetting. Most people that fiddle with jetting are usually just trying to cover up some other deficiency like a mis-matched cam, lame ignition, wrong gear / stall, etc...

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Decided I'd polish up the wiper arms and slam them on. Test fired the wiper before install... Ran nice, parked like it should. (Or so I thought). Installed the arms... Turned the switch on it dragged my wipers down the cowl and heading for the hood. (Insert hissy fit here). Thank god no scratches or damage. Never dawned on me I might have the motor eccentric arm 180 out... Ugh. Off with the arms, cowl, rotate the arm 180. Seems to work as it should now.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
I grabbed all the engine brackets, pulleys, 7 blade clutch fan and accessories of a truck at the local wrecker. (1980 V8 chev truck). Bring them home and the water pump pulley touches the water pump when tightened. Won't spin. Ugh... I have a long neck water pump on my engine... I assumed 1980 would be the same. Compared part numbers from my engine to the donor on rockauto... They're different. Must be difference in the shape of the casting I guess. Pulleys all seem to line up well... It just touches the casting
