A little single stage on the bits that will get covered up....the small bit of red that's left looks a little scared to me.

Ok...it took a while, but grille #3 made the cut. It took a lot of patience and bandaids but it's on. It still needs just a little tweaking and the vertical stripes painted on the inner grille...but she's on there.

One of the toughest things to accept, is that they all seem to come from the manufacturer with tiny scratches around the mounting tabs. I don't know if it's part of their process or what, but I don't want to see anything but shine when I pop the hood.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

I got the "rivet nuts" from a local Tri-Five vendor here in Athens. They were way too proud of them ($$$). I didn't notice them at any of the vendors that sell the grilles...seems like they'd be part of the package.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

The reproduction bedsides don't come with the nutserts installed for the rear top bracket. I got our local Fastenal to order these for me. We did a test run to make sure we could get it to crimp correctly. Of course the B and C pillar will be repainted anyway since they are exposed, so this guy will get covered then.

Of course I have a day job....I have to pay Eric for making that grille fit...and for the associated blood transfusion.

Is there a nut that goes on the back side of these or did you have to drive (squeeze) the rivets?

In spite of the weather, Eric got some base and a couple of coats of clear on the exposed interior bits, ash tray and glove box door. The upper dash looks so good, almost hate to paint it black.

Not positive, but were nt all the tops of the dashes a light tan color? I think you are headed towards a 100 point correct truck, right....
Build looks great

Depends on the interior color. My truck was originally a red interior, so the upper dash was flat(dull) red. I guess for the most part it matched the dash pad...saddle would be tan, black for black and so on. They were a flat finish to reduce glare(assuming again). The upper vents were color keyed as well.

...and thanks, but it won't be a 100 point correct truck, (there are plenty of things that are acknowledged incorrect by year and factory standards) but at least we'll give it 100% effort.

Your Blazer is coming along very nicely. The color looks great. If you Blazer and Jimmy guys keep building such cool rides, I'll have to build one of those dang things too. LOL

Thanks. Yours too of course. Deluxe bronze/white + saddle may be my favorite color combo right now. You're rockin it, even if you aren't going back with the pizza cutters.

Thanks. Hopefully by the end of next week I'll have all my chrome back and my seat covers will be in the mail. The receipt of both will be great milestones. I love that your little girl named your truck Girdy...hilarious. My little girl (3 y/o) would rib me every time she walked by the Blazer in the garage before it went in the shop..."Daddy, please move this STINKY OLD TRUCK!"...still trying to convince her that it won't be stinky when it comes home.
