Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
OMG did I just get a mind blowing email, I am blown away EXCITED! I hadn't gotten a price on my powdercoating, just a quote on the frame of $500 that I got on the phone, that was it. I dropped off three weeks ago the frame along with a BUNCH of other stuff, the seat frame, the inner fenders, the rad support, brake pedals, gas tank mounts and more. I hadn't gotten a price for all the rest of the stuff.
The guy just sent me this email telling me the WHOLE THING is $500! HOLY CRAP! This is sand blasted, Zinc plated and then powdercoated black, RIGHT ON! I am not kidding you, I feel like a stripper just came in and did a show for me! Brian WHOOOO HOOOO! I now KNOW I am going to be ordering a new Mar-K bed!

BEAUTIFUL!
Well, I got my five minutes in last night after a grueling day. Got the studs installed in one of the hubs, it's now ready for epoxy primer. Got another quarter ordered too. Brian

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
got more than my 5 min in tonight. ive been chasing a soft brake pedal problem for quite a while. I finally found the rear wheel cylinders are seeping where the brake line screws in. seems a 10mX1 fitting doesn't seal as tight as a 7/16x24. got new wheel cylinders today & installed them tonight. tomorrow I will bleed the system and see if I have good brakes. wish me luck.

hey, thanks for that offer. don't worry about it though, I just bent my lower edge of the box side under at 23 1/2". it works for my application, maybe not everybody's, (custom box)

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I can't believe how blessed I am in this life. I work for a family that allows me to take the morning off and use the tow truck to go get my frame and goodies from the powdercoater. The work looks awesome, it was damn near free for goodness sakes! I was quoted $500 for the frame, that was half as much as every other place I called. I dropped off the frame with a PILE of other stuff, we are talking the seat frame, rad support, inner fenders, all the fender braces, all the bumper brackets all the clutch and brake linkage and brackets, backing plates, the gas tank brackets and straps, the battery tray and lid all the heat shields that are on the frame, and I am sure other things I am forgetting, ALL of this was $500! HOLY CRAP, JUST the primer would have cost me that much! They saved me months of work for literally free!
I thought there was a mistake right up until I saw the invoice, I thanked them so much, every guy I saw I thanked them. They even loaded the stuff onto the tow truck for me! I am still in awe still in awe, I just can't believe this! I feel like my truck is ready to drive! LOL It's damn near half done with this stuff done, holy crap! Brian

I just ordered seat covers from Speedway Motors. I'll have a local upholstery shop install them.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Yesterday I made the second interior door panel, and I began welding up the bedside stake pockets today because they were so mangled. I hope to finish that tomorrow.

A little primer-surfacer and that'll be good as new. Nice work.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
COOL STUFF GUYS! Good to see those trucks getting done!
Last night I got the other hub done with new studs and sand blasted, got all the steering stuff ready for primer and I am priming it at this moment before I run off to work. Check out my heated spray booth! The burnt hose, ohhhhh that is what happens when you leave the hose laying on the ground in front of the heater..SHHHHHHHHHHHHHh yeah great, good thing I have extra hoses to get this done on the fly. Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Trying to get in my 5 minutes a day. Installed my new drivers side mirror arm. Used some old bolts and washers I found in my spare bolt bucket. I think it really adds to the patina look.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I finished welding up the stake pockets. Now it's on to the basic body work on the bedsides. They are a mess...

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I feel your pain, I welded mine up and have been working on the bed sides also, not sure i'm making progress, some waves that are not cooperating. Just spread some more putty on the top of the rails and pocket welds, hoping to get close to done with body work over the weekend, probably not but progress i hope.
