Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
Hey JR, what are the overall dimensions of your frame table (length x width)? I'm gettin ready to build one. If any one else has any reccomendations, let me know. Thanks.

Jr,
The truck looks awesome. Is that a '57 chevy wagon in the background? What's flamed back there too? I'm a sucker for tri 5's. David

Sweet!
If the owner is wanting to sell it, try to purchase it. Also you got another PM. David

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
WOW. I read this entire post. I feel i need beer. There is alot of info this thread. At the beginning of this thread i was excited about bagging my truck buy now i feel like i don't know jack #$%^. Can someone recomend a couple books on suspension that would help relate to our trucks. Also what else should i read or do my homework on before i start my modification progress. I am a quick learner so i don't think it is out of my reach but i like to do things right the first time. Thanks Josh

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
"Basher" bashers, please ignore. I'm trying to have a conversation on engineering, aesthetics, style, and so on. I realize that vc's workmanship is excellent...
I appreciate the engineering involved here, but at what cost? I suppose one could tuck a 30" wheel too... if you moved the axle centerline into the cab ... but the visual appeal of having the wheel in the cab is an onvious yuck. So, while not as absurd as my suggestion above, you having to pull the track width in so far makes me wonder if it's worth it to tuck the 22" wheels at the expense of the resulting look. ??

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
Man, I had no idea there was any fab worth looking at in Modesto! (I spent the first 19 years of life trapped in Turlock)
That is some of the best work I've seen. There are some wicked fab guys here on this board, we sure are blessed. I hope to be able to weld half that well some day. Maybe i could quit my day job and do some REAL work for a change. |

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
DUST DUST DUST... Well hello everyone. I'm back again. Took a little time off to take care of some personal issues. With that being said nothing has been done to the chassis. I started the other blue C10 and that is going well. I will take some pictures of that. Nathan I will be giving you a call in the next few days to talk about a few things. That C4 front end is great. My goal is to have both the chassis on the road for 07 show season.

Re: Custom Chassis with canti setup
I've read thru all of this and I just have to say..."Fantastic work"
I have one question though on the fabbed exhaust. If for some reason the tranny would have to come out, how can you get the crossover pipe off, or does the engine and tranny have to be pulled in combination? I see where the exhaust disconnects from the headers, but it doesn't look like there is room to twist it out from the frame or am I missing something? Kevin
