I took the afternoon off to get caught up on a few other things. Plus I'm out of firewood.

Thanks ol curt, I'm glad that what I am doing is inspiring. Sometimes I wonder why I post every step of my progress. Then I remember it might help someone or even inspire them. It's also good too look back on and see how far I have come.

Go ahead and get one going, we've got time.

I got the TCI 350 trans today with lokar shifter, kickdown and dip stick tube. It also has a 2500 stall. He bought it new this past summer. It might have a couple thousand miles.

Now he wants to sell his wheels and tires. The rear has a 5
'back space he says. I can't remember the tire sizes. All I can remember is the rear is a 295. I measured our axles today and they are the same. Were still working the deal.

I agree they would look awesome. I'm pretty sure I will end up with them unless he changes his mind. I want to mock up my bed and do a test fit to check clearance.

Re: My 1965 build thread

Yeah I got my suspension parts after 3 weeks.............Oh, wait a minute the Ubolts are wrong

It took 3 weeks because the ubolts were back ordered. Here is what I got.

Not only are the Ubolts the wrong size. I ordered 1/2" they sent 7/16"

But, i got an assortment of nuts. 6 self locking and 2 plain, but at least they are for a 1/2" thread

I'm familiar with some bolt head identification, but i'm not familiar with this one. It's the hardware that mounts the sway bar brackets to the frame. They say it is grade 8. I'm skeptical.

Everything I find says three lines in that pattern is Grade 5.

I agree. That's the way I identify a grade 8 bolt

Re: My 1965 build thread

Here is my email to CPP

I ordered the 6372LCUK 1/2" Control arm U-bolt kit. I got 7/16" ubolts and 6ea self locking 1/2" and 2 regular 1/2" nuts. Here is a picture of what I recieved

http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...d/DSC08179.jpg

I also ordered the CP7423-BLACK FR Sway bar kit. The package says it contains grade 8 hardware. I'm familiar with some bolt head markings, but I don't believe this is grade 8. I could be wrong.

http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/o...d/DSC08181.jpg

I waited 3 weeks to recieve this order due to the ubolts being back ordered. That is what I was told when I called 12-1-2008 to check to see what the status is. I'm anxious to get my frame rolling again. So, please let me know what will happen. If this email goes to the wrong department could you please forward to the correct department.

You should have my truck info but here it is again
1965 C-10 SWB
V8
Auto
Cpp 2.5" drop spindles
Cpp 4" rear drop
CPP Tubular engine mounts and trans Xmember (Incorrect hardware package, I took care of it)
Cpp PS adapter kit (Incorrect hardware package, I took care of it)

I'm a member of http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/index.php. CPP gets alot of press there.

Thanks

Re: My 1965 build thread

I've used CPP before but there's absolutely no excuse for ONE customer to receive several of his orders w/incorrect hardware. Someone @ CPP needs to go down to the shipping/handling area & freakin make some waves. In this economy...... send someone home for a week w/o pay. That should do it.

Making it right after the fact (and delays) isn't going to cut it either. I've been a vocal supporter (and customer) for CPP. But after seeing this, I will not suggest their product line any longer.

I did think about an off road shop close to my work that I'm going to at lunch today, but I didn't think about a trailer supply. We have one of those as well close by. Thanks Jon

Re: My 1965 build thread

Alan,
Sorry to hear about your hold up on your build and I hope CPP makes it right for you. When I removed some leaf springs from the rear of my truck I coudn't find the right size u-bolts I needed till someone suggest this little shop in town. Check around and see if you guys might have someone like this. if not maybe these folks could help you out, here is a link to their web site. http://www.custom-springs.com/ I hope this helps you out. good luck. Re: My 1965 build thread

What a day. I tried to locate some U-bolts locally. I tried the following without any luck
1. Advance Auto
2. NAPA
3. Local trailer supply
4. Southern Offroad

Then I called Truckandcarshop.com they had them but would take a week to get them unless I wanted to pay thru the nose for shipping. Regular shipping was $11. Everyone that sells them sells them in a kit to do both sides. Ranging from $26-29, until I called LMC, they wanted $14.95 each. I didn't even ask about shipping.

As of right now I haven't gotten a reply to my email to CPP. I did call them and was told the u-bolts are still on back order. I think they just threw something in the mail to buy more time. They are sending a return authorization.

Then I thought if GM still offered the lower A arm bumpers they might carry these as well. Guess what they do. They are the 9/16. I'll have to open up the holes to accomendate. The cost is $6ea list. My cost is $4.50 and they will bring them to where I work. I should have them by this Friday They had to order as well, but at least it is in their warehouse.

I didn't know something as small as this would cause so much frustration.

The speedo I won on ebay showed up today. It's awesome, and completely rebuilt.

Re: My 1965 build thread

I got a little work done. The speedo is mounted in the housing.

The rearend is ready to be let down. The springs are installed.

A friend of mine had this pic of downtown Ball Ground Georgia. I think that is a 67 C10 since there's no sidemarkers on the fenders.

Progress will be slow because I took on a side job so I can buy more parts. I hope ya'll can understand. He wants it all painted orange.
