Re: Post your 1960-66 STEPSIDES

Yes...this thread dates back to June 2010, but I never get tired of seeing everyone's trucks, in this case... steppers. C'mon, post a recent shot of yours! Cleaned mine up for the first annual Brother's C-10 Intervention show in Auburn CA today. Close to 400 C-10s showed!

Anyone buy, build or improve a step side recently that they would like to share? Let's keep this thread alive.

My 1966 Chevrolet C10 short step

Here's my 1966 Chevrolet C10 short stepside. It has a 350/300 HP 4 bolt main crate motor, TH350 trans, 3.73 12 bolt posi, PS/PB front disc and tilt wheel. It's been converted over to 5 lug 17" wheels. I replaced all the suspension and the steering components with CPP/QA1/POL/MOOG parts about 4 months ago and it tracks and rides great. Paint is in a continuous stage of touch up. I replaced all the chrome with nice quality stuff and I'm getting ready to redo the interior in torch red. Just a nice driver with 9500 trouble free miles on the power train so far. I also have to install a Lokar neutral safety switch when it warms up. I thought about lowering the truck, but I tow trailers and use it as a truck hauling stuff so I went with stock ride height parts on the rebuild.

I know you posted it somewhere but I can't find it. How did you do the wood for your bed?

Re: Post your 1960-66 STEPSIDES

The bed wood was done by using a 4x8 piece of nice wood probably LOWES.
I split it done the middle and predrilled the stainless strip holes. Then we covered the whole thing in Tiger Stripe Veneer. It was not hard. But this truck is always indoors. If I let it sit outdoors, I am sure it would not last long.

What is the HP rating of your motor? And what kind of mpg do you get?

Looks like a motor from the flats back in the day.

Very Cool

Re: Post your 1960-66 STEPSIDES

'65 I drove home last Halloween. 6 cylinder with a floor shifted 3 speed. Trying to decide on what lowered suspension to go with now. Previous owner has some kind of threaded clamp squeezing the front springs to lower it. He said the rear springs are Chevelle springs. I will be doing a power steering/disc brake upgrade soon...I'd like it to be just a little lower in the front.

I used a set of drop spindles and did the disc brake conversion at the same time.
