Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

hey guys, i have been lurkin around here for a while, and finally got a crew cab a few weeks ago. I have been staring at most of the trucks on here, gettin all kinds of ideas of what to do to mine. I have some ideas, but any input is more than welcome.

It is a 1984 C30 454/TH400 If there is anyone close to me with parts available for sale, please let me know, lookin for some wheels so i can get rid of the simulaters, as well as some interior pieces. I have made some progress on it since i got it, and i have more pics here: http://s1217.photobucket.com/albums/...New%20Project/

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

Ken ... that is why I bought my crew out of southern cally away from the water. No rust & the slimest margin of repairwork.

What are your plans for the crew??

I also have some spare pw style factory door panels if you needing them?? It'll cost you lunch for them!!

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

a mild drop, probably a 3/4, after i get the bodywork done, im going to start on making a bed cover, change the interior color from tan to black, two tone black on top, electric blue on bottom, and i am trying to find a set of wheels so i can get rid of my steelies and simulators, also try to get either a 5 speed, or an overdrive to put in it, change my rear gear ratio..

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

I think the best overall trans change would be to a 4L80. I just had one installed in my boss's SS454 truck by Neal Transmissions in Snellville. That thing rocks now. He blew through a Monster Transmission built 700R4.

Good luck.

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

About $3500.00 cash.

They are the same trans that are in the H1 hummer & the HD gm trucks. But they will take a beating.

Call Keith over at Neal Racing Trans & ask him. Tell him I sent you that way (No I don't work for him but he does stand behind wahat he builds & he's local).

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs

ill give him a shout, ive got to be up in that area on tuesday, but to be honest, im cheap, and i usually dont keep vehicles longer then about a year, i love the crew cab, but if someone offers an interesting trade, it can go too. not sure if it would be worth that much of an investment, i will definitely talk it over with him though, thanks for the info

do you shift the tranfer case from underneath? or have someone else do it while you hold the brake?

Let me guess. 6" suspension lift, 35/12.50's on 16x10's?

Edit: Those might be 16x12's?

I asked that because I could see what looks like a 4wd shifter dangling underneath the truck

Man that is pretty! I wish you people would stop doing this to me! Everytime I decide on a color scheme, something else comes along and makes me want to change my mind. My trucks all black now, but I love the factory two-tone stripe like yours, and plan on adding it as soon as the new black is final buffed. I had always wanted to do the stripe in gray (or silver), blue would actually be my first choice, but my interior is red and I dont want to change it all. Most recently I had decided the stripe would be a plum color, like a subdued dark purple. But now you and your pretty red stripe are messing with my head. Thanks a lot!!
