Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Haha yup thats my plan too!! I actually did some tunning of the carb now that I have a vacuum gauge...Just wish I had a tach so i could know where its idling...Damn idle screw is basically backed all the way out...This learning stuff is rough lol

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Yeah, All my gauges do work...The only one thats questionable is the fuel gauge because its a bit jumpy.....So im left wondering sometimes...

Just no tach in the truck

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Mine does it too whenever my gas starts getting low kind of mind boggling actually but I still have my readings so I'm not too concerned lol be careful with putting a tach because that was a little bit of my issue with mine, my cousin that's a mechanic suggested me to not use it at all, just a little bit to think about I'm tempted to plug it back up but I don't want to get back to square one with my motor not running again

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Oo I see, yeah it seems like it's fine but yet again I really can't say yes or no just yet because I just got it running again, and it has open headers right now so don't want to run it too much and throw a valve or cylinder

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Adjustments arent to hard but as long as the engine doesnt die you shouldnt worry abut your idle. Heck ive heard the saying "the cheapest lope is just turning the idle down". Sharkbite, you shouldnt have a problem running open headers...id only worry if there wasnt any exhaust hooked up to move the temps away from the engine bay

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Got a little bit done today....

Started removing the paint off the fenders and also painted the inside of the one Rust-oleum gloss black..... Trying to decided if I need to do more welding and flap disc the weld holes or use a little bondo to smooth out the small weld spots from the trim

Re: Project 78 High Sierra

I had no idea how to hook mine up, but there were some instructions I looked at, but they weren't real clear. I was at a buddy's house who is a mechanic and I converted my truck to HEI and hooked up the tach, and just asked him any questions. It was simple, I just get a little nervous sometimes when it comes to wiring lol.
