How do you keep your front cross member form scraping on the ground when you go over speed bumps and dips with a 6 inch drop up front?

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

Here is my GMC. It has 3 inch lowering springs and 2 inch drop spindles in front. For the rear it has a c-notch and a flip kit for approximately 6 inch (just guessing) drop. Had to cut out a square section of the wood bed directly over the differential for travel clearance in rear suspension.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

My work in progress daily driver. Had 2/4 drop for the last 10 years and today I added 2" lowering blocks. She is stuck up right now. I am working my way for disc conversion up front to add 2" drop spindles to give it that 4/6. Baby steps.

I read the part about the axle flip. But for the drop spindles did you have to convert to disc? Or where did you get them?
Thanks

Another cool Arkansas truck. I am from Conway. My 62 came from there.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

My latest.... a 66' with a 63' grill....
The Blue Leopard with its new look, a bunch of coils cut in the front and 2 inch blocks with 5 inch dropped coils in the back... all the work done by forum member "Kev's Classic's"
BTW.... I do not call this "PATINA" the sand down job was not my idea, this is good candidate for a paint job.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

this is a true static drop .
I took out all the springs and bump stops so it's sitting bottomed out .
there is no driveshaft in it . the engine runs real good , im not shore what year it is
the valve cover don't have Chevrolet embossed on it
and it has a vent hose on the left front side of the valve cover.
the engine compartment wiring and dash wiring is totally trashed
so it won't even yard drive yet .
I just wanted it to look cool until I get a chance to start on it.
I picked up a complete 79 front 5 lug cross member and the 5 lug rear with highway gears. I got 2 eight inch 5 lug truck rallys for the back ,
now I want to find 2 seven inch 5 lug truck rallys for the front
I need to pancake the 79 cross member before I put it in and get some C notches
before I put some springs in it.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

I took measurements on my truck today. As far as I know it hasn't been dropped at all. It's a 1966 GMC with rear leaf springs. Front from middle of rim to fender front was 19 inch and the rear was 22 inches.
