Hey thetucks,, Thanks for the interest!! I don't see your build page on here,, what's up??
I've made a lot progress since the last post,, but I've also been really busy in general. Not enough of me to go around sometimes. I'll post some pics and give an update here pretty soon.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

How did you know what height to set the cab at? Are you worried the bed won't set low enough to match the cab or are you planning on cutting the bed floor out and moving it up? Sorry for all the questions. You've made great progress so far.

Since I used the floor and firewall from the Yukon,,, I simply used that as my cab height,, so far. I am custom building the floor for the bed and my cross braces aren't as tall as the stock ones,,, still it's going to be close. I may have to lift the cab a little or the floor of the bed or both. I'm not sure yet how it will all work out yet. This is what happens when you "boldly go..."

Okay,,, as promised,, some new progress and pics. More coming soon!
.
I spent a lot of time during the fall and winter finishing the connection between the cab and firewall,,, below the windshield. I must say,, it came out great! (a LOT of work though!!)

Here's a look from the front. I'm starting to apply the seam sealer.
.

.
The wiper motor has been re-located to the area where the seam sealer is.

I also decided against re-using the original doors and fenders,,, just too much rust. I've already bought new fender doors and bed panels.

im glad your making progress. I did same thing on the doors and fenders. It was more cost effective to buy new then spend hours and hours putting patch panels in the old ones.

Nice to see you posting again. The work is looking great. Are you going to try to get it in paint this year?

Yeah,, after using 80 pounds of nickel blasting media on the inside of one fender,, I decided it might be better to just go with new. Even after the rust repair in the lower corners and the media blast,, I could still see where the rust in the seams would probably start to grow and be a problem later on. The media blast also left the panel a little thin in places. Your build is looking pretty good!!

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

So I've been working on getting my seats in so I have an idea on how big to make my center console. The Yukon floor turns out to be very flimsy and thin feeling. To solve this problem,, GM installed some removable cross braces,, which are also kinda flimsy and awkward to build a center console off from.

So I built my own cross braces out of eighth inch flat bar.

I made them non removable (welded directly to the floor). And then started work on my seat bases.

Just read your build. Wow good to see your still plugging away on your truck after everything you went through a few years ago, a lot of people have to sell or loose interest in there project after all that. Interesting idea using more than just the chassis.

Don't knock me too much on this one,,, the seats are from a 96 Mitsubishi Mirage. They seem pretty comfortable and they seem to fit the truck pretty well. They do move forward and back and the backs tilt forward and back. The Yukon seat backs just seamed a little too thick at the back,, which reduces the space between me and the steering wheel. I need all the room I can get. Using the floor and firewall from the Yukon gave me an extra inch between the back of the cab and the steering wheel and it gave me a couple more inches of leg room.
