Yes, nice and dry. I thought it was a real reasonable deal on the wood. I cut all the grooves etc in them today. They turned out very nice, but I didn't go the full 1/4 inch wide for the grooves (about 3/16").

White oak is a great choice in wood, and particularly beautiful if the annual growth rings are perpendicular to the board face (quartersawn). There is no reason you can't make the required grooves with a standard blade. Just make a pass and move the fence over a tad for another pass until the groove is as wide as it needs to be. You'll be pushing the planks over the saw many times each, but it'll work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Not what I have done but more what needs to be done, replace heater core, it blew out Thursday morning on the way to work, its from radiator exspress, ( 55 plus tax vs 79 plus tax thru LMC ) they are the cold glue type, lasted eight years, not sure I want to go the glued route again. Mann it sured fogged up the interior in a hurry, could`ntt see anything at 4:00 am in the morning when the outside temp was 28 degees, had to open both windows to clear out....it was cold. Does anybody know if LMC`s are soldered or glued.....?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I went to bleed my brakes today and ended up with another blown brake line. Right rear portion just before the rubber brake hose. Pretty sure the rubber hose has collapsed so I ordered a new one from Ecklers.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

thanx man... ive had the engine bay envisioned in my head forever.. im glad i finally got to see what its really gonna look like.. im gonna keep it as minimal as possible.. manual steering, manual brakes, a push electric fan on front of radiator, hide the wireing and brakelines .. eventually gonna replace all the bolts in the engine bay and on the motor with nice stainless ones to

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Today replaced the driverside bed panel. I picked up a shortbed about a month ago for $100. Well traded it for a 292 that I paid 100 for. Now need to decide on one piece of high quality plywood or a bed kit. Also got a gilmer drive kit. Need to find a different alt bracket for it to work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Nothing on the truck but related. I picked up the gas cylinder for my new mig welder and began the learning process. I can't believe it took me 45 years to do this. I had a lot of fun, managed to get a half decent bead by the time I quit, and I didn't burn down the garage or burn or electrocute myself. It was a good day!!

Well not just today for over the last 2 "truck" days... Two coats of POR15 on the frame after cleaning it up with a pressure washer and wire brush and wire wheel. I also worked on the firewall. More pics on my build page...
