Re: oh no a knock!!!!
excactly panel, all 400s had a balanced , um, well balancer. it will possibly crack your crankshaft.
as for the 350 or 327 ones I first must ask what year is your 327. small journal or large journal? |

Re: oh no a knock!!!!
First the engine will vibrate, a lot. Power will suffer and then it will crack the crank.

Re: oh no a knock!!!!
Just a thought, but, do you NEED a new balancer? If it is not badly damaged, some cleaning up and a bit of peening may make it safe to just insert a new key, and tighten it down correctly using the right Loctite It would be easy enough to check frequently to be certain that it is holding - which it might do for 100k miles. If it begins to loosen, then get a new balancer and key.

Re: oh no a knock!!!!
So I finally got the 327 balancer and before installing it I decided to weigh it and compare the difference with the original balancer......the new balancer is 2lbs lighter then the balancer that came off. I rechecked to order I placed and it was correct for a 68' 327. I installed it and got it running again....looks great...no wobble....and pulls side ways like she always does.
