Re: New Suspensions Need New Tires: WTB

The bottom line is I needed the tire repaired & they wouldn't repair it because a) the tire was near the end of its service life (tread bars clearly visible), & b) the tire had 2 holes within .750" of each other so they said the holes could not be plugged properly that close together. I explained that yes there were 2-holes in close proximity (a staple had punctured the tire), but only one of the holes actually breached the inside surface of the tire & was leaking. They still refused to fix it because the tire was 'worn-out'. So I asked them to dismount the tire since I paid for the lifetime mount/balance deal when I bought them new @ DT. They wouldn't dismount the tire for free because he said they would not repair the tire. I paid the fee taking my tire & business elsewhere. That repair job I did (tire patch the size of a quarter) has lasted 1yr now & that 'worn-out' tire is still on the truck doing it's job. Quote:

i still cant believe that they wouldnt just dismount it for you... it takes all but 1 min to break the tire down anyways.. sucks that happened to you. i wouldnt blame you i guess because when you pay once you dont have to pay again..

Re: New Suspensions Need New Tires: WTB
Sounds like they wouldnt fix it because it is illeagal to do so on a tire with that much wear and they really didnt want any part of the liability of it so they charged you to dismount and didnt want any further dealings with it. yeah a local independent guy can see where you are coming from but they are so many sue happy people out there that a big corprate company cant take the chances. Could you imagine what a lawsuit there would be from some guy just looking to sue a large company for fixinf an illegal tire that was too worn out?
Not saying you personally would do it but there are so many that would. Glad you found a local guy that has your business now.
