Re: What did you get done? 04/20

Saturday drove 116 mile round trip to meet TooManyToyz (Rick) and buy a roll bar from him. Also played around with the 87 interior remodel project, the radio in particular. Got the Caddy AM/FM/CB all fired up.

Sunday traded some scrap satellite dishes for an Iroc Z tach dash, center console, trim bezels, heater controls. Not sure what I'll do with them as I have no Iroc...but it was cool cause I got to spend time with my 16 Y.O. boy and bond a little while we yanked the parts. I rarely get that chance, so it's all good!

Re: What did you get done? 04/20

Messed with the timing on the Blazer and finally realized I need to replace the advance springs. Went and grabbed a advance kit and put some medium springs in it and WOW..really woke it up. Spring in it didn't bring in full timing until about 4500...now have it coming in full at about 2500..runs MUCH better.

Damn Tracy...I knew it wouldn't be much longer before you were in another one...lol

Love the burban top on that thing. Had been looking at that thing too, but the wife said no mo toys for a bit. lol

Re: What did you get done? 04/20

Saturday, ran from north DFW to Jefferson TX for a pre '72 car show. Nice cars, but just nice.

Sunday, 120 mile round trip to pickup a 77 crossmember from Tx Sq Bodies (tony). got home, started dismantling, no hurry.

BTW, I don't have a 73-87 (but I need the crossmember to give my 62 disc brakes and affordable suspension parts)

Re: What did you get done? 04/20

I finally got the donor 350 into the garage and started working on it. It ran great so im not going to do anything internally to it for now. I stripped it down and wire wheeled it and only had to put 2 squirts of degreaser on the back of the block, everything else was nice and clean. Two coats of hi temp gloss black and she was looking much better. I couldnt help but throw one of the valve covers on just to see how it would look.

I did a test fit of the new fuel pump and its a good thing I did, the inlet is 180 from the outlet and its right up against the motor mount...going to have to try to rotate the lower body or get a bottom inlet/outlet kit for it. Tonight im going to put on the intake, oil pan, timing cover and dist.

Good weekend for me.

Re: What did you get done? 04/20

I did a little work to the '73 on Saturday. Actually my friend, Greg did more than me... I was suffering a little 'overhang' from the night before so I wasn't so productive...I crawled under there and drained the oil and put in a new filter, then filled it up, Greg dropped the tank for me. It was pretty clean! The day before was a little busier... did some work to my '62... Here's the link...

I only did one thing on 4/20.

Not really. I wish. Time is too precious with my 9 mo. daughter and 3 projects.

Re: What did you get done? 04/20

On Saturday I went back to the junkyard that I saw a hood in great shape at last weekend. It was still there and I picked it for $40! I got home and stripped the outside of it to bare metal and I scuffed up the inside. On Sunday I painted the inside of the hood and sprayed 2 layers of PPG DP90 etching primer on the outside. I also cleaned up and primed the grill that I picked up last week. While I had it apart I used fine steel wool on all the grill stainless. I only snapped a few pictures. I will snap a few more this week.

Bagged 74, was the guy seriously wanting 10. I was eyeballing it myself, but never went and looked at it. Prefer a stock one. What are your plans for it? Hopefully spray some color on it.

Re: What did you get done? 04/20

Friday: Worked on school stuff and went to a few parties.
Saturday: Ate some things i should not have and got really really sick because of them. I have never felt so crappy in my life death from food poisoning would be a horrible way to go.
Sunday (4/20) Well did that for the last time for a very long time. Who needs that crap when you got these trucks cough cough (money pits) cough.

Truck related:
On a brighter note i ordered the 6x9 cab boxes from Jeff(bigblock73) and cannot wait to install them.

Maybe this weekend I can get some work done on my truck as I am headed home to have a good long talk.................

I spent Friday through Sunday at a swapmet with a bunch of old friends trying to sell off some junk. I put a sign on the truck. I had a bunch of people looking at it, and a lot of compliments, but no offers.

Re: What did you get done? 04/20

Little late but I fabbed up a double hump trans crossmember for my stepside and finally installed the double pumper I slapped together a couple of weekends ago.

Hopefully I'll get to install the crossmember this next weekend and tuck up the exhaust so the other wheels and tires can go on. Pics in the near future.

Slowly gettin closer to ridin on air.

At first I thought the CB part of it was junk! When I keyed the mic I got a lot of feedback through the speaks that are mounted in the Highliner I bought from LMC. I'm tryin to run dual "hick sticks" mounted between the tool box and back of cab. If I run only one antenna, I don't get the feedback. Borrowed an SWR meter from a buddy at work and I'm planning on playing more with it tonight. It seems that the dual antenna are creating an RF field and the speaker cones are picking up on it. It's a nice unit though, and appears to work fine with only one antenna, so I may have to go that route and leave the "dummy" antenna there for aesthetics. The faceplate of the radio had to be modified to get the head-unit to come through the stock hole in the dash far enough to be flush with the guage bezel, but a pnuematic cutoff tool and file were all it took for that to happen. It gives a nice appearance, and has all digital tuning. I'm going to post pics of it all in my thread, probably in the next few days. Here's the link. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=287842
