Re: ppl without a/c
Yo! S10Fan!
I'm old,...what's NNPD? I got along with the locals everywhere I went. I never NEEDED anybody to ruin my day. Some of my fellow sailors, however, required some straightening out. And some never got enough! As bad as having renters! I appologise for their behavior, Bryan. Sad that we carried that reputation with us, no matter who we were. Todd.

I agree! My truck was built without AC so I have those nice floor vents, they move some air.

Re: ppl without a/c
Yo! Never had a run in with the cops, Newport News, or otherwise.
At one point, however, the officers on the ship got wind of a big party our division (sonar techs,...AntiSubmarine Warfare) and the missle techs were gonna have and they alerted the Chesapeake Bay Narcotics squad to bust us all. Came crashing in in the middle of our party, bringing it to a screaching halt! Must've overestimated us, because the best they could manage was to ticket each of us for "visiting a disorderly house" and the Navy made all of us pee in a cup the next AM. No positive results from that, but each of us had to pay $20 to settle the tickets. We were quite impressed with the bad reputation we had gained! Sure was fun keeping everyone guessing after that! With my windows open, vent windows turned backwards, and the floor vents open, my truck maintains a pretty tolerable environment inside. My Camaro, HOWEVER, has NO vent windows, NOR does it have floor vents! Even the "2-55" (2-65, 2-75, 2-85, etc,...) only provides enough cooling to keep me from wilting on really hot days,...but hell, there's not much else on the road that's more fun to drive!! Todd.

Easy it hasnt gotten above 60F yet. Right now its a balmy 48F so staying cool isnt a problem. I still have the fire going to keep the house warm.
I could do with some global warming about now. |

Re: ppl without a/c
This IS global warming! Change in the normal weather pattern is the result all of us experience,...wider temperature shifts, stronger storms, and increased frequency of severe storms. Been suprised by the changes throughout the country in the past ten years or so.
It'll get worse. Then we'll need more A/C when it's hot, and more heat when it's cold. Freeze and fry,... I'm NOT optimistic. Todd.

I hate AC have it but don't use it. Black truck down in south texas was sure hot tho. I fly with my wings open windows down and the vents on the floor open and the fan on. Some dynomat or similar might help cool you down in there

Re: ppl without a/c
Looks like he removed the bulky fiberglass condenser housing and built a simple duct so the blower would still pump air into the truck so he has heat and defrost. Been there done that.

Re: ppl without a/c
FYI I havent had normal weather in my entire life, not trying to get off topic or anything or start a flame war, but weather has been erratic since long before me, and long before the industrial age. The big difference is the news didnt travel as fast and we didnt have video of everything as it was happening until the last ten years.
The temps are right in line with what they normally are here, it just doesnt get hot by the big lake. For someone who lived in Nebraska and experienced crazy weather with 40F temperature shifts in less than 3 minutes and 30 below with a 40mph wind among other things, the winters are nice and not too cold here. I just wish it would warm up some so primer would activate and cure while its on the car, instead of dripping off because the temp dropped 20 degrees while I was shooting it. Of course warmer weather means more bugs and that means more sanding them out of the stuff I am shooting. Back home in NE, I used to tough it out without AC, and the hot humid summers were pretty rough. I liked Kuwait better than Nebraska at least it wasnt as sticky even when the wind changed and it came in off the gulf. I always wear black t shirts, and back home they would be gray from the salt left over after sweating two gallons of water off. If you live between Nebraska and the Rio Grande and you dont have AC, I feel for you. |

Re: ppl without a/c
I used to keep a cooler full of ice, water and soda in the toolbox of my truck. In between class at our state of the art no A/C equipped school I'd run out there and grab something to drink.
Stopped doing that after it got searched at least a dozen times because a cop sees me pulling over and grabbing a can out of the toolbox.... I do have to say, the Nebraska weather has been nice lately. Very rain though, and I have lot of wheat to plant....

Re: ppl without a/c
I have 5% tint all around, including 3inches on top of front window. Crack open door windows, vents, and rear window (blazer) 1 or 2 inches. This works because no direct sunlight enters the interior.
My Cab and blazer top is white and that helps too. I stick a gallon of water in the freezer overnight, then I have ice water to drink, and it is good for all day. Black or dark colors, even with tint, is an oven. No tint is too. My strategy works great for dry Arizona heat. I like AC for "taking the edge" off a hot car that has been parked, but don't like it on constantly. I'd like a thermostat to control it would fix that.

Re: ppl without a/c
When the temperatures start to hit 100 in the spring is the worst because you not used to it. Also usually in July or August for a week it hits record highs of 115 to 120 is hard. This year it is nice, it hasn't even hit 100 for a couple weeks now.
