How about this- 1965 Suburban with 65K miles and original paint? Until just a few years ago it was owned by the Fenton, MO fire department... apparently indoors and clean all of it's life.

Re: Post Your 60-66 Chevy/GMC Fire and EMS Trucks
It's just amazing to see how beautifully pristine so many pieces of fire equipment remain after decades of regular service. Not many other types of service vehicles, like police, taxi, or military cars or trucks end up looking so nice.

Re: Post Your 60-66 Chevy/GMC Fire and EMS Trucks
Yeah that was a heartbreaker. The truck showed up on ebay several years ago. Pictures looked good so I called immediately and everything sounded good. We settled on a price and I was to be at his house by noon the next day with cash- planning on driving it home. Late that night he called to tell me he sold it to someone else... for several hundred dollars more... plus got paid to deliver it 1,000 miles. I was not happy at all but nothing I could do. I believe it's in Texas now.

Jolly's truck has been shown before but here is a good picture of the Rescue Squad. It makes my 1950 1 ton look small.

Re: Post Your 60-66 Chevy/GMC Fire and EMS Trucks
Here's my 1965 C80. Built in Pontiac, Michigan then outfitted by American LaFrance in Elmira, New York. Delivered by rail car to Victoria, Virginia where my Grandfather and Great-Uncle were volunteer firemen. It now has 27,000 miles and I'm the 3rd owner. It's just as it left the Fire Department when it was retired in 1998.
Oh yeah, it has a 409 with a 5 speed manual trans and 2 speed axle. |

Not a true fire truck but if you look really close you'll see "Saratoga VFD" on the front bumper.
