Chief Rocka - that sucks... coppers have no sense of humor anymore.

Then, most people don't have a sense of humor anymore, hence 99% of the laws we have... or so it seems.

Good on your kid for straightening out the cops... hah!

I can remember when the locals would either shake their finger (index) or bump the lights to remind you NOT to be doing burnouts or even squall tires. Now it takes 2 or 3 to pull you over because they are afraid of everything. Bring back the cops of the good old days!

Your absolutely right...thats why I used the 'honesty is the best policy' method with the cop....when you become a parent, these thoughts come naturally I guess.

I told the cop that I was trying to show off to the other punk...I explained this to Lil John as well. What I did was wrong, and technically illegal...and he understood...but deep down, he knew I was trying to "clown" on him !!

Sorry to hear about it but but "Exhibition of Speed" is a
Misdemeanor driving violation. Up to 6 months in jail and a $1000.00 fine. No driving school for "Exhibition of Speed". Chevy Luv 231 buick, 4 bbl. built with th350, quick silver, manual valve body, 2800 stall, and 4.11 gears. Almost same situation in Riverside, Ca. Summer 1987. Appeared in Superior Court, Placed in handcuffs in court, serious stuff, paid a $375.00 fine, GEICO cancelled me when the got a DMV print out. Was on my Cali driving record for 7 years. Had to go to slam insurance company. Paid $2200.00 a yaer for liability only for 2 cars. My wife still kept me but was pissed a long time. Damn I miss that Luv truck. Poppy

When you go to court. Say you were doing your civic duty and coating the roads with some protective rubber, on your dime and hand them a bill for your new tires.Let me know how this turns out.... Here in AZ the state pays alot of money to put down rubberized asphalt and recoating the roads.

A few months back I got spotted by a cop on a segway () going about 8 miles over the speed limit on the street I live on. as I passed him I saw him radio backup, so when I got to my house I just pulled down the tailgate, sat down and waited for him to catch up and give me the ticket... I'll be damned if this guy didn't roll up to my house with SIX cruisers as backup. All of them got out at the same time and started approaching me together like they thought I was gonna start running. My first thought was damn did I run over someone back there.... but I sat still and said "I've only got one license, but you fellas can pass it around if you'd like"..... somehow I managed to joke and laugh my way out of that ticket, but I never did understand what exactly warranted so many cops for one skinny kid in an old pickup truck.

Re: Man...just got a 'Reckless Driving' in the Chief...

I got popped back in '05 here in Santa Fe. Me and a few other guys were going 'stoplight to stoplight' and sounding pipes and doing burnouts after a carshow. There were a few guys doing it, but the loud, bright yellow truck got pulled over. I ended up doing traffic school and 48 hours of community service. The judge threatened to take my license away too, but decided to let me keep it...

Sucks... I hope all goes well for you, Chief...

Well back in 2000 +/- a year, I was pulled over by a NCSHP Trooper.
He said he clocked me doing 92mph in my yellow 62..........

Here is the story:
Me and my Bud just came back from the local drag strip(Shadyside Dragway) around 12:00am, and we were both at the light! Keep in mind we were in a 25mph School Zone..... My buddy was bucking at me in his mustang, and in return I was roaring my 283 at the time back at him. The light turned green, so we both dumped the clutch.... I was turning right and he to the left! Yes.... she went to the left a little, but after I got straight and barked the tires in second with my 3 on the tree... got her straight, and went down the road...... Yep! Blue lights! Trooper pulled me over! He was hiding at the gas station with his lights off! He was parked in between 2 cars that were for sale at the gas station! Sneaky little
Well did the lincense and registration deal, and he asked if I were drinking. Nope Mr. Officer I said.....
Said he clocked me at 92 in a 35.
I was in a 25mph school zone during the burnout!
Could of got me for:

Spontaneous drag racing
Unsafe Movement
Reckless Driving
Speeding in a school zone
Unlawfull use of a vechicle
Arrest me ...... impound my truck ...... bla bla ..
Etc...... Etc.......
Complimented on my truck a little......
Well about that time he asked me what do I think I need to do about this!
Before I could answer 6 drag crotch rockets come flying by!
We were down a hill so they could not see the lights!
The cop said, "Don't let it happen again!" and ran to his car and went after them!
Now wasn't that luck!
The Lord was looking after me that day! He could see my yellow truck that night all the way up there in heaven.... ha ha

Dude you were clocked at 92mph with a 283 and a 3 on the tree? DAMN that's hauling...... Seriously. You were insanely lucky, too.

Yep!
The 283 (we still have) is the 283 with the 327 tooling! She was a hause! She had a slight wild cam in her with double hump heads! 650 Holly, Stock rear end and the three speed was rebuilt and did not hang up when I went into second! Actually I have her for sale! But yeah he said I was clocked at 92mph. I love 283's 302's and 327's!
But man was I lucky those guys on the crotch rockets came flying by! He made me sweat for 30mins! He was checking my truck out to so maybe he was going to let me go with a ticket or warning. But was I scared!

I did the same thing years ago and Hayward pd gave me a ticket for "excessive acceleration" I guess I passed the attitude test. If you try to get it reduced thats a good option and you could make a strong case for it being your in a truck, unloaded and a slick surface. Some one posted a link for ticket assasin and I will say doing it by mail is best, I once beat a seat belt ticket of all things by mail.
