Re: Newbe here first classic Proud owner of a 65 Fleetside
Nice looking truck! Remember keep it schlongggg. One of those green wires running along the valve covers goes to the water temperature sensor in the water pump and the other side goes into the engine harness plug on the passenger side of the fire wall. I dont know about the other one since mine only had one green wire. The other three of them on my 4-wire engine harness plug went to the starter and coil if I remember correctly. The gauge lighting is done with bulbs in the back of the panel, they are single grey wire, and just pop out the back. I found on mine they stopped working for two reasons: bulb was busted and bad ground to the cluster as well as the bulb clipped into the cluster. On mine there were 4 bulbs total wired together in to one single grey wire that routes through a plug to the light switch. Hope this helps.

Re: Newbe here first classic Proud owner of a 65 Fleetside
Hey thanks man!
My temp tag is out of date now and I'm still waiting on my title....... Man once she got cooled down with the new Rad i was driving her every day to work and around town I love this thing! Budget build 65 i should call it with only 1200 in it so far... Waiting on a email back i might of scored a nice 87 free bench seat...Fingers crossed ill rebuild mine later but that 87 would be nice to have right now. Get me a mex blanket to cover it itll look NicE Also still gotta relocate that bracket on top of the Rad so it looks stock in a way...Just gonna move it back and cut off the access

Nice truck. Did you paint the motor still in the truck?
If so, any tips to prevent getting paint on parts you don't want painted?

Re: Newbe here first classic Proud owner of a 65 Fleetside
Thanks guys its good to know I'm going the right way with this truck ya its a lil ruff now but in time she will be smooth and painted even better...
I was waiting on the rad cap comment haha ya she fits like a Glove man thanks again for that! Also ya i did do it in the truck besides the valve cover i took that out and stripped all the paint off of it sanded it primer then paint a few times... As for the tape off job nope no tape haha I used these paper towels from work which is just like paper covered up what i didn't want painted took off a few parts painted them on the side over night type of thing man if i over sprayed which was once on the starter i just put the towel over it then painted again... Don't have to be crazy tape off job really if you look at it you would think so but its not just a careful paint here and there and bam 10 times better Ive done this on other cars before just lil things never whole motor but these motors are so open and simple its easy to paint under hood! I wish you guys could see it in person looks WAY better in person looks like i just bought it! Thanks again for the complement's i always wonder if it looks like a POS to people or if its a cool looking classic like i see it I love it either way lol

Re: Newbe here first classic Proud owner of a 65 Fleetside
Sweet truck!
Some old vehicles look cool no matter what shape their in. These trucks fall into that category. As long as someone doesn't butcher them.
