I've seen people get sober late in life. As long as he's breathing there's always hope.

I grab my beer and toast the completion and sucsess!! he grabs his ...clank....glug glug glug!!!! ....yep he grabbed the primer bottle

Re: im drunk

I kept this public only because if it helps
another person that is too nervous to speak
up as well as this young man, it's all good.
Perhaps not but I must speak up anyway. Alcohol is a
SOB if it causes any grief at all.
Don't get me wrong, beer is good, for most people
and bad for a few of us
I'll stick to the basics of the Thread/Forum from here on in, thanks!!

Go to an AA meeting yourself one time young man.
Sounds like you don't need it, but if you want him
to stop maybe you can find the help you both need to
pursuade him to try. Anything is worth a try when it comes
to your dad.
I went to a whole bunch at first........ been a couple years
now since I stopped in, that's a bad Alcoholic.
if you sit and listen, there is a pile of help within that organization.
It's not as bad as you would think and I'll tell you, you
will never laugh so hard, maybe your dad will too.
A real laugh is something Booze takes from a drunk.
I already knew this but didn't see it until I heard it
from someone else.
I am a bad example as I only went a bit but I will
tell you, they make you think differently and that
helped, lot's with certain things. Life got better, fast.

The "Big Book"is worth a read too, it's not so much
the stories but the stuff written into them. Hidden
messages if you will.

Time will heal most anything. Your dad is no exception.
I wish you well. Have you looked him in the eye's and told him
how you really feel? I missed that chance with my dad
and I ended up closing his eye's for him, and I wasn't
ready for him to go yet.

That's it, back to Bowties, Boobs and Big Blocks !!

Re: im drunk

That mythbusters treadmill clip is awesome!

Ive never worked on my truck drunk before but something happened when I was young and dumb. I was pulling the driveshaft on my truck, laying under it on a creeper on an inclined driveway. Forgot to block the tires, took off the U-joint straps and pryed on it with a bar and the truck started rolling down the hill with me hangin on underneath for dear life. The rear tire rolled over my foot, luckily my foot was turned sideways and I had thick soled workboots on and my foot was fine. After riding the creeper being pulled under the truck about 20 feet it hit a chainlink fence and stopped. I learned my lesson!

I once opened my hood and saw a 502 Big Block and when I sobered up it was a 250 Strait 6. Beer will do funny things to your eye sight.

Re: im drunk

Years ago I worked on a car my buddy raced on weekends. I don't remember the actual class but it was like a hobby stock car. We changed the cam one night, and drank quite a bit. I remember adjusting the valves and buttoning it up at about 2 am. Crashed at his house that night and the car ran great.
He always laughed about that and used to tell me that I was a better mechanic drunk than most people he knew sober. A short time later I met my wife and we started a family soon after. Nothing changes your priorities like a wife and kids, drinking became an occasional thing. After 25 years of marriage I don't regret changing my priorities one bit. My wifes father is an alcohalic and it is sad watching his health fail him now.
