Re: My first "truck"

this is the best pic i have to illustrate my point lol its not even bolted down here
my bed is 9 1/2 ft long and i don't like how much it overhangs, the 8 1/2 that was on there looked better imo, but i have no pics of that

Re: My first "truck"

yeah. I was laying out boards today to see how much overhang I wanted, and I think 10' is waayy to much. I think somewhere between 8 and 9 feet is a good length. now that you mentioned it, I think 8.5 would be a good length. I'll just have a bunch of 18 inch pieces of wood for making other stuff I guess.

on another note, I drove the truck around tonight and it stayed cool and ran good, so I'm gonna move on to phase 2 and start on the box soon

Re: My first "truck"

sounds good! do you know how wide you're going to build it? 7.5 - 8 ft is typical, mines 8, i think.

Re: My first "truck"

I was just gonna go however wide the truck is, so I guess however wide the body line sticks out. I was thinking originally that was about 6 feet? I measured the bed of my dad's truck and it was about 6' wide inside the bed. I'm planning on making some stake sides and a front for it too, I just need something on the back to make it look like an actual truck, and somewhere to put tail lights and stuff.

What do you think I should do for a rear bumper? the frame looks like it was torched off behind the leaf spring hangers, so I may need to fab up an extension piece to bolt a bumper to, we'll see what my mind conscieves.
