I think you were talking to me. Thanks. It was a shame that I wrecked it. But I finally got started tearing it down a few weeks ago. Maybe in a few weeks I'll find some more time to work on it again.

Hey jdurant ,Your renderings are awesome , I know this is an old post but I just now came across your rendering pics and was wondering what software you used for them . I'v always wanted to mock up parts with a computer rendering to see how changes would look. Thanks

P.S.
Don't know if this got posted in right place , sorry new to message boards/forums

Re: Custom Grills (options)

i have a dream, but haven't found an old billet grille yet. i have an 85 but i want to keep the body color stripe across the center, but have 2 seperate billet grilles. 1 above, one below. i've never seen exactly what i want, but i think it would look like a really good setup. i was just gonna cut up a billet, but i don't wanna spend 125 to cut on one, you know?

Re: Custom Grills (options)

Any one out there know of any grille material that would be similar to "Street Scene Speed Grilles" ? I wished street scene would make grilles for our squares but they don't so I would like to fab my own for my 77 out of something similar . I don't think it would be all that hard to custom make a insert . Does anyone know of any sources/sites for flat sheets of aluminum with similar pattern cut outs (kinda close to a speed grille) ?

personally i like the look of a phanton grille. i think your truck would look good with one, but to each their own. it's what makes the world go round.

The phantom grilles are bad ass for sure , but there is not one for the 73 - 80 grille , just the 81 - 87 . To have a phantom grille in a 73-80 c10 , I'm pretty sure you would have to swap the whole front clip with the 81-87 front clip (fenders , hood , etc. ) . Not as easy as a simple grille install

Re: Custom Grills (options)

Does anyone know the dimensions of a billet grille insert for the 73-80 c10's ? I would just go out and measure the opening in mine if I could but I'm out of town. I may have found a site that sells universal mesh grille material but don't know if they have it in a big enough size to accommodate my 77 grille . Anybody know what size I need ?

The grill looks nice. Clean. The plastic laminate table the grill is sitting on is sweet too! I wanna find some of that material to put in my motorhome.

Re: Custom Grills (options)

Blacked out the parking lights and painted just the elevated part of the horizontal bars [though I forgot about taping off the little support things dammit.]

As for my old Blazer, I used the old aluminum grille that protected the coil on an outside A/C condensor from 1972.
