72/69 K10 project "Big Dreams"

i got the truck inspected yesterday and it passed so i can now have the title switched over from an offroad title to an on road title and get it tagged.

Only took 2 months thanks to previous owners

well i decided to put a flat bed on my truck....i really like the way it came out even though it wasnt actually built for my truck. what do you guys think? its only going to cost me 10 ricks of hedge wood

No real progress since my last post just been collecting money and metal. i ordered a new gun for my welder. hopefully it will be here by saturday so i can finish mounting the flat bed this weekend and wire in my lights. i got insurance and tags for the truck today too so i can now legally drive it down the roads. Hopefully by the middle of next week i will have enough money saved up to go ahead and by the new 4 inch lift from rough country...this warmer weather is really getting me excited. now if only i wasnt stuck an hour away from my parents house 6 days a week with nothing to do outside...but it keeps my spending down and i dont get burnt out on working on it

i also plan on shortening the flat bed about a foot one of these days. it is 9 foot long and i would like it to be about 8 so that it doesnt look so goofy

Finally got the flat bed mounted for good and really like how it turned out. i got the passenger side lights wired up and started on the drivers side but i need a plug to hook the last light due to it missing... here are the pics. oh and i burnt my hand pretty good but it didnt slow me down

Bed have stake holes? Add some shallow stake sides and you have my wet dream for a farm/hauling truck! It is wide, but the extra room could come in handy.

yes it does have stake holes...i plan on making some so i can deliver fire wood with it, but with the broken leaf springs cant haul anything yet. so stake sides are in line behind the new lift springs for now

got the wiring finished up last night. took the ol girl on her first trip to town and filled her up with gas. put about 50 miles on her today. it was nice to actually get to drive it. me and my brother cut and hauled 3 ricks of wood today so i took a picture of it all loaded down

Flatbed looks pretty tough! I would shorten it though. Cool truck.

i fabbed and installed some custom tow hooks today. i think they turned out good! i also changed out the front shackles that where some homemade job and put factory ones back in.

Thanks, kinda hit a roadblock when I ran outta money. Been fixin wiring glitches here lately after I got it running.

ya they shouldnt ever see much in the way of a lateral load...but its better than what i had.

ya i hear the money issue i'm trying to get through college with no student loans and work on my truck so i am always looking for the cheapest way to fix things

well the time has finally come. going to order my new lift kit from my local rough country dealer tomorrow !!!

cant waiT to see the new lift installed! Should look great! My neighbor has a 70 k10 that I would like to lift and put a flatbed on.

thanks! bad news though. 15 minutes after i posted this my cell phone quit working so i had to buy a new phone so it will have to wait another week or two till i get paid again if its not one thing its another

Yea sh!t happens. Most of the time it's not good either but, ya just gotta have patience I guess. I'm sure it'll turn out good anyway.

I got an internship this summer working for a construction company so hopefully the increased income will help fund more work on the truck so that i can get some more updates going

If you are going to haul wood in the back, you might want to find some air bags. I had to put these on a couple of my trucks that are used as feed trucks. I used the firestone brand for 73+ chevrolets. They aren't a perfect fit, but they work good.

ya air bags would be nice but i think im going to buy the 4 inch lift then see how much the rear sags compared to the front due to the heavy flat bed. Then buy add a leaves to give me the heavier load carrying ability and level out the truck. If i had the money though air bags would be really sweet.

I have a few updates to make.
first i got my front tow hooks painted and the bumper polished





I also wire brushed and rattle canned my rear frame rails to clean them up



Another note why does my truck have an extra transfer case cross member behind my transfer case

It looks like some one added another cross member as a skid plate or something.
