1Bad, I've been in semiconductors for about 30 years. Got laid off a couple of years ago but things look to be on the rebound.

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
Regarding your PM:
Get me a pic of the outer portion of the vent cowl of the areas needing help. I might be able to fabricate the silver dollar size area of mine that needs repair. It doesn't make sense for me to cut out a small section if you could use the whole thing.

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
Not from Portland but close. Up here in Kelso. Just joined myself because Sunday I picked up a '66 GMC 1/2 ton 2wd long bed. Needs some work but I was able to drive it home. Factory P/S and P/B truck. Got it cheap at the low price of $475. Not completely rotted out but has some issues.

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
I'm almost positive I won't need that area. The lower section is where mine is starting to rust through.

The areas I saw on the outside are just what has finally rusted its way all the way through. I said I was 'almost positive I wouldn't need that area'. I was wrong. I'm going to need most that cowl. So much so, that I'm probably just going to replace the whole cowl. I'm sorry if I got your hopes up, but I really don't know how much of this donor cab I'm going to need. Like I said in my build thread: I was really considering using the donor cab in place of mine. The areas worse on mine are good on it, and visa-verso. I will be swapping the whole cowl, so maybe you'll be able to use the upper area of mine. But I won't be getting to that part of my project until winter. Again, I'm really sorry if I got your hopes up. -Robert

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
Don't worry about it. I fully understand how these rust issues often compound themselves as you dig deaper. I'll just keep on the look out. Like I said, I'm not in a hurry, I have a lot of other things to work on before I get to that. I was just looking ahead. Good luck on getting yours fixed.

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
Noob from Beaverton here. Nice work.
I picked up this truck 5 days ago from Canby for 1000 bucks. Needs work but runs and drives. I fixed all the leaks and took it to Rod Run in Long Beach Wa last weekend. We go every year and its always a blast. Someone tossed in a 305 and a th350. The quadrajet is bogging and popping when the secondaries open. Carb is getting dipped tonight. New heater core and blower motor. Just in time for Cruse the Coos down in Coos Bay this weekend. Lowered the back a few inches with drop springs. The fronts have been heated and ride like S. Disk and spindles to come. |

Re: Newbie from Portland, Or
I'd be for it but I'll be out of town next weekend. Going to take a week and visit the southern Oregon coast. My trucks torn apart in the garage so I couldn't bring it anyway, but I'd like to meet up with you guys some other time.
