Why not swap trannies? I mean, you have spent time and money on the blue truck. Be a shame to let it go to waste.

Re: 85 long bed needs trans rebuild.....so....

guess that might make sense...
i figured rather then spend 1k on trans, id buy a new truck.
now, i was thinking of junking the blue after the motors out, but now im thinking, since its a solid southern rot free frame.
might just keep her there, and eventully get it back together, might make sense to put trans in and go, but since ive started pulling parts for gray truck, the gray one will get lowered with all new parts from blue.
plan on swapping motor. 350 into gray truck, hope the 350 trans is ok.
then maybe ill have enuff time, and my son can get the blue truck.
??

Re: 85 long bed needs trans rebuild.....so....

I know what you mean about time. I've been busy trying to get my truck a reliable daily driver for this winter. I think I am getting close once I swap the dizzy out for a new one. In the mean time, all I have is a motocycle to get me around. As of late, the morning temps have have been in the upper 20's to low 30's. Brrrrr.... Not ready for those temps yet.
