Re: Bought my truck tonight!!!

Nice!
You guys are awesome!
I think I'm gonna use the comp cams break in additive all the time. I have the comp cams cam card, and they recommend it all the time. Figure it can't hurt.
I am going to try and get the shift linkage adjusted, but I don't think it's gonna help a whole lot.... You're gonna hate me for this..... I found out its an M22 (rock crusher). That would explain the gear whine and semi rough shifting........ Hahaha. This truck deal I made keeps getting better and better.
I'll post some more pics this weekend when I get the new tires on and clean her up a bit.

Post photos of your shifter and seat if you can. I'd like to use a Muncie 4-speed in my truck, but haven't really come up with a good solution for a shifter that will work with the stock bench seat.

Couldn't you use a stock shifter from an El Camino, my old man had one with factory bench, it has a big bend in it to work around the seat.

BTW truck project looks cool!!

Very good looking truck! The only thing that I would change would be the air cleaner. I had one of those and it caught fire after a back fire through the carb. Otherwise its a great looking ride! Have fun with it

You might check out the newly released Hurst bolt on 55 Chevy shifter handle. It should stick up about 2-3" higher than the welded type and should work great with a bench seat. I believe it is part number 5388620:

Markeb01 I used the exact shifter for my 1962 C-10 I used to have years ago. I believe it was 55-57 and also bought the installation kit which made the shift smooth and tight. I bolted it up to a 4 spd Saginaw but the only thing I had to do was heat and bend forward (a little bit)the lower part of the shifter cause 4th gear was hitting the bench seat. But it came out nice and fun to drive.
