At the end of the day, a muffler can only put out what it gets in. A 305 with a 2 barrel is a pretty weak sounding motor, sorry to say. You never stated what size your Y-pipe is or what exhaust manifolds you have. The exhaust system works as a whole, not just a muffler alone.
A dual 2.25 inch system is a good idea, I believe HOOKER sells a system pretty cheap. I don't think it comes with an H-pipe so it will be wise to add one! An H-pipe will clean up the tone and increase HP and TQ. Better to go for something that sounds good at a lower tone than just loud and ****ty.
Make sure the Flowmaster you have is a legit Flowmaster. ALL Flowmaster mufflers come stamped on the downseam, gotta watch out for those knock off companies. Oh yeah, make sure the flowmaster inlet is facing the motor, you'd be surprised at how many people think it's ok to turn the mufflers backwards lol there's a reason why it says 'INLET' on the front.

well yeah its not the strongest. Im not totally sure on everything..ill take a look at some more stuff..for the flowmaster..it is a real flowmaster..certified dealer/intaller put it on. Ill have to look at size and stuff though.. I didnt realise it till today when someone drove my truck down the street that it does have a good sound. I just never noticed it with being quite in my cab.

Yeah they always sound different to anyone standing outside the vehicle than to who's driving.

A buddy of mine has an 89 GT Stang. It sounds really good, but he never let anyone else drive it. He finally let me drive it one night. When I pulled back into the driveway, he walked up and was happy cuz he finally got to hear how his car sounds.

i'll tell you what i did, i ran true dual into a set of dyno max mufflers dumped over the rear end and installed 2 electric cutouts about 2 foot off the long tubes so i can cruise wherever i want with a nice sound then when i get to the car show or just want it louder i just hit the button and open it up, then its as loud as you want, now the 350ho crate motor and the 2500 stall helps of course!
