Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

What kind of compressor did you use? Because the Delphi compressors are much more compact than the other type (I think delco) the way you can tell the difference is that the Delphi has 2 separate lines, bolted on separately the other kind had one big bulky block that have two lines that bolt on together with one bolt. I always use the Delphi type, I just know he other is bigger and bulkier. Just thought I would let you know that.

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

I'm still plugging away at it! 2 steps forward and 1 step back,we keep finding out we have to order or buy parts all the time. I bought a sending unit for my fuel gauge and we installed it when we put in a roll over vent valve on my fuel cell .
I bought a the MSD FI pump and filter from Speedway. Then I had to drop my tank to hook up a return line from filter, next on the line is my exhaust. I had a muffler shop tell me that they would connect my headers to my dual exhaust for $50.00 a side. But I had to trailer my truck there or it had to sit 2 days before they could fix it.

I bought some U bends from Speedway and I'm going to cut and weld to hook it up my self. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks I can put my Cowl back on and drive this thing. I'll try to take some pictures of what I've been up too.

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

I have twin 10 inch with shrouds on my aluminum radiator. We wired them in so they turn on and off with engine temp. I may have to rework the wiring when I put AC in if I do. I have a guy wanting to buy my S10 as soon as it is on the road.

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

Well, we got the exhaust done and to-nite we're going to clean the ECM and reprogram it. Hopefully I'll hear it run wed. If it runs I can put the sheetmetal back on this week. This has been a long time coming.

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

What a deal! I had to replace my injectors, they were clogged and I only had fire on 3 cyls. We put the cowl on and installed radiator-wed. I have to pick up a air filter set up and longer throttle cable plus Tv cable for my 700R4. Going to try to figure out radiator hoses wed. too

It does sound good now and starts easy. We have a lot of small things to do hopefully this is the week I get to drive it home.

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

Still plugging away,Bought a Spectre High performance Air Filter Kit for a 2000 Tahoe. It's a 4 inch polished aluminum tube with a large rechargebale air filter. Still had to modify it to make it work.- Not done yet. Rebuilt water outlet on water pump. Bought a 700R4 bracket $29.00 Just to cut it up and weld to Throttle bracket. Going to use a 99 Silveradle Throttle cable. Haven't fiqured out TV cable yet. Ordered my belt, hopefully it'll fit. Like the saying says 2 steps forward 1 step back!

I don't know if it's going to be worth the abuse I'm taking from my "Bookkeeper",it's costing more and being a pain in the Axx with having to experiment on what parts fit and what doesn't. I gotta admit I'm still under what it would have cost to build a good motor.
I can't start on the work I need to do on "her" 64 untill I'm driving my S10,atleast when I start on it I will spend quaility time in my garage As far as a video I'll try,I need to take update pictures hopefully monday.

Re: Gonna put 5.3 in my S10

Update- I got it back yesterday afternoon. We spent all afternoon putting grill and bumper and hood on,damn it was cold outside!!

I've driven it around 10 miles on shakedown runs and I gotta tell ya WOW-is it ever fun.

I need to give it a decent bath and clean it up as it's really dirty inside and out. I'll try to take pictures Friday after cleaning it up.

I have a lot of little things to do,install gas gauge, turn sigmal indicators and high beam indicator plus some I find out as we go along.
