Re: 1986 w/ 295 miles

I could spend $10,000-$15,000 on a nut and bolt restoration on my truck and it would look just as good, difference is~I could actually drive and use mine!

Sitting is worse. All the rubber seals and hoses dry up, guarantee if you were to run that engine it would be a smoker in 10k miles. Never mind all the maintenance that hasn't been done. Anyone that has read a factory maintenance schedule knows there is a mileage and time limit on all the maintenance intervals, which still applies when you aren't driving the vehicle.

I'll take a well maintained truck with 100k miles over one that has sat for 25 years

Re: 1986 w/ 295 miles

A little after midnight here and it shows it was updated an hour ago. I don't see any mention of the TBI now. Looks like you boys straightened them out. Now if you could get them to drop the price $45,000 I'll buy it. LOL

I disagree. I spent about $3100 on mine, and I think it looks just as good*. Plus - I prefer the option content on my truck - and - I drive it.

The original truck posted doesn't really do much for me - especially at that price.

K

*well, except for inside the pickup box. And underhood...lol

Explain how you arrive at this please...... There are many truck owners on this site with 15k or less in their rig that looks just as good.

That truck for sure has been repainted before.

I have an 87 4x4 with 67k original miles and no repaint...although its thin on the hood and top and needing one now!!!

I'm not saying one cannot have a nice truck for under fifteen stacks. But to think you can build a 100% stock, all brand new, all genuine GM truck for $15,000 that is as nice as a 300 mile truck is laughable.

I dunno man, Its all personal opinion. There are a lot of trucks on here that are way nicer than they were out of the factory and they probably cost less than 15,000$ I've got about 4000$ in mine and I'd take it over a brand new one especially when you weigh how nice it is verses the price tag.

just my 0.02!

First off, That's NOT a "brand new" truck, And WE don't know it's a all "genuine GM truck". But, even if it were..... It wouldn't be for very long if it were put on the road, for the reasons below.

I've witnessed-bought and worked on older low mileage vehicles (under 20k) that had sat up in garages for a measly 3 to 5 years, They nickle and dime you to death until you end up replacing everything. Then their no longer original.....

Re: 1986 w/ 295 miles

My Crew cab had sat in a ware house untouched for 13 years when I bought it they put a new battery in it and gas and brought it to an auction. I cahnged the oil and all filters and decided to run it that lasted about 6 months until it spun a rod bearing. If you put this low milage truck on the road you better carry every replaceable part with you because every seal and rubber piece is gonna need replaced in the first 1000 miles.
