Re: How about some pictures of hotroded sixes

No pics, but I'd love to see the Trailblazer / Envoy I-6 put in one of these trucks. 4.2 liters, 270 horsepower, 4l60E compatible... not quite as cheap as a v8 swap because of availability but it would be a little different...

It would be a good swap. but I myself am tired of looking under hoods and seeing plastic covers with no shape resimbeling an engine. I guess I am just getting old but the concept of the old cars gets lost when too many modern "conveniences"and electronics are added. jmho.

^^^^ I would "like" this if there was a button. I like my old car/truck because of it's uniqueness. If I want a modern engine I will buy a modern vehicle. I respect others that do this, but it is not my thing. Just saying.

Re: How about some pictures of hotroded sixes

Yeah, I hear ya, guys. Personally I'm putting a Vortec 4.8 in my truck for the reliability, power, mpg, etc, -- but I get where you're coming from. My old man never could leave a car alone (or carbeurated, for that matter) and I guess I'm like him.

To me, the most appealing part of these old trucks is the sheet metal. I'm not as attached to drum brakes, carbs and ball bearings - but now I'm starting to hijack the thread...

The sheet metal is about all that is stock, but from different years on mine. but the rest is not so modern as to need a computer lol. But for my 42willys jeep I would love to have fuel linjection!

It actually stays very clean. Before he did final bodywork, after louvers were punched, he had a racecar fab shop make a underhood "skin", so any water/rain goes off to sides and not onto motor.

Also keeps motor heat from sucking into his cowl vent.

Anyone who's ever had louvers and a cowl vent, will understand.
That heat sucks right out and into cab.

So that underhood skin has two reasons to exist.

Makes sense. I was thinking the normal dust getting in the fins in the intake.
