I went through the entire Steele Rubber Products catalog yesterday cover to cover and couldn't find anything remotely close. Perhaps a dealer that sells current step bumpers might have a source.

You might also find something suitable in the McMaster Carr catalog under rubber extrusions. None of the shapes are like the original, but one of the edge trim shapes might work and look decent. Perhaps #3 shown in the 2nd link:

If your rubber was anything like mine, it's shaped kinda like an upside down "F". Though I was able to re-use my original stuff after properly repainting the bumper, I had looked into replacing it. The closest thing I could find was windshield gasket for a classic boat.
Here's a couple links and a photo.

oem4me - That is really sweet looking! Was there any dealer or city info on that bumper?

Nope, no dealer name. There's only a small aluminum plate riveted to the center of the bumper saying "SAFE-TEE" by American Bumper, I think. You can just see it in the pic. I'm unable to find a close-up right now.

There is not a stamping in the bumper itself. I do know that it came from Plains. I have the logo that was on the cowl cover. I will post a pic of that if you like?

Thanks for the pic and info. That's exactly what my bumper looks like. I may have to attempt to restore my rubber... It's not as good of condition as yours... Thanks for the links!

Re: Dealer step bumpers

I have that SAME exact bumper as OEM4ME, it has the Barden Bumpers from it. My truck was originally a CA built truck for CA market (had smog, etc), so i'm guessing that company sold a lot to CA dealers. Has the little metal tag on it with the barden name (painted over but visible.)

At least it looks the same wrap around from the side (which looks like it caused an ever so slight crease in the metal above it, maybe from towing stress)

Here's a pic of the center of it.

Re: Dealer step bumpers

I just bought this truck and was researching the bumper. Thought it would fit here. I've not found any exactly like it, but I'm pretty sure it's original dealer equipment. ?? Looks like the hitch has been added/modified.

Re: Dealer step bumpers

Here is my 64. I don't think it has ever been removed for any reason. The truck was sold from bay Motors in Coos Bay, Oregon and has a license plate frame from the dealer but the bumper is not stamped like some are.

I'd really like to see some more pics of this bumper and how it fits around the fenders. I'm looking at a very similar (if not identical) one out here in a couple of weeks and would love to know what I'm looking at. I was thinking that it would be kinda cool on the '63. The seller says it's off of a '59 Chevy. I'm wondering if it will even fit the '63 stepsides? Is there a mfg. name on it? Thanks, Chris

This is the last pic I have of my truck. It's somewhere on the road between California and Ohio. I'm pretty sure it is a Barden, but I'll get you some closer pics as soon at it gets home.

Re: Dealer step bumpers

Love that truck! Those car carriers scare the bejezuz outta me though. Seems like those ramps could go the wrong way if someone like me was operating it. I still have a couple weeks before I can take a look at the one I want to get but Id really like more pics if you get the time. Thanks again. Chris

I'll get some pics as soon as it gets here. Thanks for mentioning how sketchy that car carrier is - NOT! I'm as nervous as a whore in church about my truck making it here safely. Counting the hours till it arrives.

Chirs,
Here's some additional pics. Let me know if you need anything else. Not sure if you can read the tag in the photo... It reads "Barden Bumpers, Inc, Woodland, Calif., Albany, Oregon"

Looks like the PO added some additional support for the hitch. Obviously not OG.

Re: Dealer step bumpers

Thanks for the pics! Hope the truck made it safely. It looks great from the pics. The bumper that Im looking at is also a Barden. Must be the same model. Looks pretty heavy duty!

Re: Dealer step bumpers

Dropped mine off to have it straightened, blasted and primed.

My buddy does this stuff for free for me. I do work on his computer and he does the stuff I can't. He has access to a huge steel construction shop.

I will post pics when it's back.

Re: Dealer step bumpers

Bought this bumper sight unseen and is a real shame cause i went through all the trouble of sanding and painting it BEFORE i checked to see if it even fit, ah the joys of trial and error when learning as you go with these trucks. I really liked this bumper too, looks great! The brackets are just too wide and wondered if anyone had an idea of what it could fit.

I have a 63 C20 btw
