Whose Seat Belts Are You Using?

Couple pics I had...had to later make a cover for the roller mechanism and it's mounted with one huge bolt and a piece of angle iron to the floor, backed under the floor by a BIG heavy washer. Welded a nut to a washer and welded THAT from the inside up top. Taped it to a long paint stir stick and stuck it up the inside to get it positioned.

Struggling a little to understand what you're describing here.

As to the mounting of the shoulder anchor, somewhere (maybe a Juliano's link to a magazine article?) that showed a piece of plate with a nut welded on it that was slipped behind the B pillar and welded there using two rosette welds to hold it until the through-bolt could be tightened. The rosette weld would be ground flush (I assume) so they'd be invisible after installation. Does this sound like what you did?

Also, I notice on some donor vehicles the retract reel/mechanism is covered by plastic that also is the seat bottom "surround". So that won't especially work UNLESS I find or fabricate some other kind of box to cover the reel. What have you guys done? I'm thinking there oughta be some kind of metal box I could re-purpose as a reel cover. Paint it or have it chromed.

What you described is exactly what I did with the top nut. Sorry about the turd like explanation. The cover I made wraps around the reel part and attaches with velcro. I sewed it up with the same leather I used to make the seat and door panels out of. Hides the ugly and blends in tucked down beside the seat. Could also be wrapped or painted fiberglass, I was just lazy.

Oh, smart. I'd have never thought off wrapping in leather or fabric!
