Re: Rebuilding Suspension
I shop Rockauto against Amazon against Summit when buying parts.
But, the price they quoted you is within line. I paid over 700 for all Moog stuff on my last rebuild. Good quality is a bargain compared to cheaper stuff which doesn't last. I'm no rich Rockafellar either. This took me months to save for. A little at a time. |

Re: Rebuilding Suspension
If you don't mind me asking, how did you get that price. I mocked up a parts list with them. They only had one of each tie rod ends and I did even have the sway bar bushings and it was 285. Add on the other tie rods and sway bar bushings and it would be 325 or so before shipping. While that is alot better price just didn't know how you got it that much cheaper. Even with a 5% discount it is only like $17. Just Curious. I guess I should have shopped at Rockauto for my stuff as well. Glad you got it for that price. Wish I would have.

Not saying you should/shouldn't get one or the other. Just saying If you go cheap plan on doing it again someday. Both will wear out fast without grease. I plan on doing Moog ball joints and probably Taiwan rod ends because ball joints suck to replace and rod ends just screw on. |

Re: Rebuilding Suspension
Lets see your pretty much replacing the whole front right?
Pitman a d idler arms are where the most slop comes from in linkage. Afterwards replace the steering box with a quality unit. I recommend redhead steering boxes. You get nice instan response out of them and you can have them adjust road feel to your liking Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Rebuilding Suspension
When I bought my stuff I got lucky bc a lot of the parts happened to be wholesale closeouts so it made my ball joints and a couple other items super cheap. I did a ton of shopping when I bought my stuff. But so far I haven't been able to beat rock auto on a lot of parts. I do have all my packing slips handy if you need help with part numbers I will have to pull up all the receipts if you want a total cost. I just finished my front and am currently putting my flip kit on and rebuilding the leafs.

Re: Rebuilding Suspension
If you havent decide on Moog yet, and those cheaper parts and prices look appealing. Dont do it. Take it from me.
I tried the cheap stuff. all four ball joints and steering from rock autos cheaper line. The first drive I took in my newly painted 3500 end like this. The lower ball joint completely separated, causing the lower control arm to slam into the asphalt and the tire to jam up into the fender. keep in mind this was a brand new ball joint. It had 3 miles on if that. Im only greatful it broke while I was almost stopped, and not running 60 mph So not only did I buy the cheaper ball joints and tie-rods I had to re-buy all new Moog suspension and steering cause, I couldn't trust the other stuff I had in there so it all got replaced. |
