Testing my patience. I am dying to plug the injectors back in, but I think I will hold out for tomorrow.. Don't want to have to do it twice

Re: 2002 5.3 need help troubleshooting
2 hours of waiting is testing your patience.
We were out in our working trucks enjoying the last weekends of summer....if you want me to rub it in. Don't put cleaner on the electric plug. Its not to say that it would really cause damage, i just don't like exposing electronics to much besides contact cleaner and dielectric grease. With at least the end in solution, your getting some cleaning effect. If you can submerge the body a bit so the solution get "in" there a bit better, thats fine too, just keep the little electrical part up out of the solution. If you lay the injectors on their side in a shallow tupperware, you should be able to keep the plugs "up" while the rest of the body sits under the solution. I mention in another thread as well, there are instruction on google/youtube for how to mod a simple 12v source to trigger the injectors while they are in cleaner.

Re: 2002 5.3 need help troubleshooting
Ok, it IS ALIVE.
I HAVE 1 o-ring on #4 lifter that is leaking. There is a skip, am thinking there are a couple of injectors that still need some attention. My major concern is i have a water leak coming off the pass rear of the engine. I first thought it might be the vent tube which runs from side to side, but ran my hand in that area, I didn't feel water there. I have seen no freeze plugs in these engines so I don't think that is a possibility. I know there is a threaded insert just above the starter. With the starter in place I am unable to eliminate this as a possible source. Appears to be coming from somewhere in the starter region. Do you guys have any suggestions? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 2002 5.3 need help troubleshooting
if your getting fuel on the back of the engine and the o-rings have been handled, make sure that the push on connections on the fuel rail are sealing.

Re: 2002 5.3 need help troubleshooting
looks like it is time to pull the fuel rail again... and fight the clips...
i am thinking i will do this after the engine is pulled..... the clips will be much easier then.

Re: 2002 5.3 need help troubleshooting
the fuel supply lines(at quick disconnect) appear to be sealing.... i have to wonder if those fuel lines may have been compromised between the engine and the firewall, during the wreck....

Re: 2002 5.3 need help troubleshooting
Be sure to lube the orings on the injectors so they don't get damaged when puttting them back in. Just throwing that out ther in case you didn't know.

Re: 2002 5.3 need help troubleshooting
Ok guys, just finished verifying all the injectors work/spray. All seem to be working fine.
The trusty syringe, battery, rubber hose with clamps and PB Blaster did the trick. In the videos, the guy used a fuse, but I went straight to the battery. Cleaned everything, installed the new o-rings, inserted injectors back into the fuel rail..(yes, I lubed them, don't want damage them this time around).installed the retainer clips......boy the clips were much easier to install on the table. Good stopping place, will finish in the AM. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 2002 5.3 need help troubleshooting
I bet it was, those wheels/tires have seen better days...lol...you might try lifting the rear end and blocking the front tires and seeing if it goes through all the gears.
