Try A-1 Johnson Auto Wrecking in Billings, MT. AFAIK they still update their inventory with old iron.

Re: 1957 Chevy Truck

Heater hoses hooked up today. I have heat! it really cranks! gotta love how the heater core replacement is a 1 hour job in this truck. probably take 2 days to change the one in my 2000 Silverado

Re: 1957 Chevy Truck

My truck is like Frankenstein, with parts from 10 different trucks...but i'm glad I was able to use the original heater box. Some black rustoleum and a sticker from ebay.. looks great.

Re: 1957 Chevy Truck

I installed a radio in the truck.... I got the retro sound apache radio.. I like how it fits right in the dash opening! the display is real nice , blue numbers on a black background. I hooked it up to two autosound speakers in the original location by the rearview mirror... then I hooked up a kenwood powered subwoofer that fits under the seat. it sounds great! The radio has an awesome feature - it has a USB reader that I put in the glovebox..plays mp3 and wma files

also installed a toggle switch in the dash to control the interior light, as well as door jamb switches on both doors

correct, the headlight switch doesn't turn on the interior light like its supposed to , but it does turn on the headlights taillights and dash lights, so I didn't want to mess with it... the toggle switch was easy to add after I already had the door switches done.

the headlight switch would most likely work for the dome light if I attach the dome light wire... is it difficult to do?

naaaaaa not difficult at all - if you still have the orange and white wires commin down thru the drivers side piller to the light switch - its just a matter of taggit in .
orange to the headlight switch ''D'' (DOME ) and white to ''G'' ground
am pretty sure that is how it goes . i am sure others can chime in

Re: 1957 Chevy Truck

Truck looks good....glad you fixed the heater core issue. I have a 1959 Chevy NAPCO that I'm putting back together in a kinda sorta modified form. My heater core has a little drip and may need to be re-cored as well. Is it difficult to remove and replace ?

thanks!

Its not difficult to remove and replace.... but before you take the whole thing out and get it re-cored - if you have a stock setup, there is a control valve inside the heater box.... the valve or the connection between the valve and heater core may be leaking on yours. the valve is easy to find on the internet

you should take the front part of the heater box off , . youll have to go through the glove box to get the top screws out. start the engine, turn on the heat. and see where its leaking. the valve is a lot less $ than re-coring the heater core.
