you can def till a 79-80 from the others from the trim around the turn signals is the easy way. looks like a sharp bronco besie it btw.

Re: Year?

Here is a link to the generic info kits in the GM Heritage Center archives:

http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...tion-kits.html

In case anyone wants to know for sure, these are the definitive answer on trim levels and option content.

I am going to make a statement on round light/square lights for 1980, and I want to be very clear:

Custom deluxe: round lights

Scottsdale (Z62): round lights, unless RPO V22 uplevel grille was ordered, and then you got square lights.

Silverado (YE9): square lights (V22 included with YE9).

That's how they came.

I always bought Scottsdales, so that I could get manual windows, manual locks and the full vinyl flooring. But - I ordered my '80 with V22 just so I could get the square lights and chrome grille. (I spent the whole summer in the Inspection/Reliability office pouring over the VDS (Engineering Vehicle Description Summary) figuring out how I wanted to option my truck out).

FWIW -

Could be.

Sidebar: That's how I ordered my '87, too. It's a Scottsdale, manual windows, manual locks, manual trans, vinyl floor, but opted up to B85 Chrome Side trim and the V22 Chrome grille with stacked square headlamps. Old habits die hard, I guess (lol).

Possibly, it is sitting at a dealership, that specializes in vintage autos.

I just looked thru the gmheritage site that Keith posted, but it just shows the small sport below eye level mirrors or camper style.Any chance your doors or mirrors been changed? I had a 78 & 79 and both had the west coast/3 arm style. Our old 77 was same too..It's dark & snows too deep to get a picture now.

I have been eying this truck for weeks (I have not stopped to look at it, since I know I don't have the money). Nut I do think it is a nice clean looking truck for the year, and our area. If I was in the market for one, I would not hesitate to check into it.

Learned something new today!!I was under the impression the molded...dumbo mirrors came out in 1980.Looked in the LMC catalog & they are saying 1977 if that means anything. We had lots of neighbors that had 77-79 trucks and never saw these mirrors on them.Any I ever saw had the tri pod mounts.

doors don't think so,mirrors maybe
my rpo shows 1D29 ,as supposed to be (7.5X10.5) painted but mine are SS?
and the arms are bent funny i thought swapped too,I even changed them out for a while
till i was told they were stock
I changed the vents and door glass and I realized the vent glass was even ground down for these to swing by
nothing marked for GMCs?

Ya,none of my 80 thru 87 trucks that have the molded mirrors have the curved arms like that. I don't think any of my trucks have the build sheet any more eh!!

Re: Year?

The mirrors with the funky bends are van mirrors or aftermarket mirrors. They did not come on trucks.

We never had a factory installed stainless buckeye electric mirror on C/K/R/V.

We also never had factory ground vent window glass.

We did, however, install the GMT400 (black) power mirrors on the R/V utilities in the '88 and later timeframe. That's the weird looking one that covers up the side glass.
