Re: Trucks of the farm!!

Heres a picture of our 1966 K20 at the farm or ranch of the original owner in North Dakota.

It then made its way to Northern Ca in this picture.

You will notice it has 1960 hubcaps on it. Well, the original owner traded in a 1960 K20 in on the 1966 and in the deal used the caps from that truck on this one.

Re: Trucks of the farm!!

My 1965 C10 was on a farm in Kansas until the 1980's. The farmer pampered this truck and only used it to go to town and pull his fishing boat. It was purchased from the estate by a local collector and was in storage until I bought it 3 years ago.

Looks like a neat survivor. Would love to see more of it.

If that is the original badge it is a '65. Nice starter truck though! Looks to be in pretty fair shape! There should be a metal plate on the kick panel on the driver's
side that will have the optional motors....if you are able to post a picture of that I can verify a bit better. Thanks for sharing!

Here are additional photos. The truck has original wood bed, seatcovers, mirrors, etc. The inline 6 had issues and is being replaced with a 283 fom a C20.

Just for yer info...the 194-230-250 all look identical....as far as I know in '65 a 250 inline 6 was available as well.....I need to look a Submarine's thread he did...LOL! I'll keep my mouth shut till then! (Few minutes later)....You very well may have a 250 inline 6....I don't know if you looked up the block number or not....But on the driver's side kick panel there is a small sheet of metal that lists the optional engines and their net torque and hp. I am stuck between 230 or 250 now! LOL! Could be either one. Sorry if I re-confused you!! But I just had to throw that in!!! LOL!

You would have to look at the block casting number....it should be near the rear of the block on the passenger side. If you can get a number I am sure there is a place on the internet to decode these....But the number should be stamped near the lower rear of the block.

Re: Trucks of the farm!!

Well, us old guys just pull a spark plug and check the stroke....(a guesstimate is all you can get because of the angle)
A 230 has a 3 1/4" stroke, a 250 is just over 3 1/2".
It's a piece of cake if you happen to have an extra I-6 laying around that you do know the displacement of.
That method was common before casting #s and internet search came to be.
