Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
That should be the right one. But replacing it will not fix the problems you have mentioned.

Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
Then what will??? assuming a Carb rebuild right? but the Vacuum advance looks like it hasn't been replaced at all? also found out the exhaust manifold was cracked when they first saw the truck sitting at the car place.....but its been filled up and looks good next time it is running i'll see about putting my hand over it and see if the exhaust manifold is leaking

Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
I am guessing to go to Carquest and get a new Rochester 1 bbl Carb rebuild kit ? How much does a rebuild typically cost
Lean mixture signs are: Backfires as the throttle is closed (primarily during coast-downs) Lurching acceleration White or light grey spark plugs Requires excessive amounts of choke to run/start White or light grey muffler end pipes Bluing (on chrome systems) of the exhaust header down-pipes I am starting to think its that up there ^^^ because the truck requires excessive Choke for it to run

Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
Just got a really good deal, if I can buy the Rebuild kit he will rebuild it for Free.
My temp gauge isn't working like it should, the Oil gauge works but I've noticed the Temp gauge doesn't move at at all..Could it be that the Thermostat is broken and old(Very likely) or is the Temp sending unit broke?(doubt it)

Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
To dispel a few ethanol myths...most premium has ethanol in it. If it doesn't, they will advertise it. Ethanol is a solvent so it will clean your tank of 40 years of varnish and gunk clogging your fuel filters. Ethanol absorbs water and phases out (separates from the gas) resulting in a leftover low octane gasoline. No additive will prevent phase out. Save your money on the additives. If you don't drive your truck enough to prevent phase out, find a source for clear gas. It's worth the extra money and yields you better mileage as a side benefit. I run E10 in my DD K20 and clear in my Chevelles and Harley (it's 40 years old, too).

Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
to test the sender and gauge
http://www.americanautowire.com/view...oubleshooting/ to test the tstat, put it in a pan of water, borrow your mom's candy thermometer, when it hits the listed temp it should open. If not, its bad.

Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
Coming to think of it, it could be a fuse...Orrie is there a Fuse diagram?
My truck has a small little fuse holder under the Dash

Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
The worst thing about ethanol and all the new gas is its unleaded. On older engines the lead is the lubricant needed for the valve seats. Keep running unleaded in a older engine and the valve seats get pounded out and the valves sink. You need hard valves or hard seats to prevent valve erosion. I add a quart of diesel fuel to every tank full of gas.

Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
Well Katrina, I didn't want to keep making threads
You added that to a Non-Diesel engine??? Sounds like it'd blow the motor

Re: Ethanol Gas cause issues?
You may have to twist the line a bit to get the nut to thread back in.
