Re: Tach install

Ray, I just thought of this...I have found a cluster housing like I need, but it has the electrical oil gauge. Couldn't I just dremel out an opening large enough to install the mech oil tube, then the rest of the cluster would be the same?

Re: Tach install

Ray, I found one that is just like the 77 but it has the electrical Oil Pressure. Couldnt I just dremel out an area to connect the mechanical oil pressure? Seems like this would be the less invasive way along with changing the printed circuit to the 1977.

Re: Tach install

It isn't possible to do that as the electric and mechanical gauges mount differently. You would be better off repinning your plug and getting an electric sender

Re: Tach install

I found a used 1976 instrument cluster. Pretty rough but the mounting is good. Is there a way I can test the tachometer and the fuel gauge to see it they work before I install them?

Re: Tach install

You should be able to hook it up, to try it.
I've used trailer light plug for hooking them up.
Ez in out when needed I have another long wire to run under hood for tuning.
