Re: 52" Swap Q's
I put 52s on my 69. Swapped the whole front/rear off an 89 M1008. I cut the hangers off, centered the wheels in the wells, drilled, mounted, whamo done deal. I also modified the front hangers with 2 inch steel spacers (bottom and vertically) to achieve a 2 inch lift (w/o a lift kit) and ORD heavy duty shackles (6 inch). I have yet to reinforce/box the frame and fill the holes, but it sits just how I wanted. Is it gonna be stiff? Yep. But the 454 and NV4500 will settle it down a bit.

Re: 52" Swap Q's
I'm on the same boat. lookin at the DIY4X4 stuff for my 70 k20. I need 6" of lift to fit Humvee 37's under it and trying to learn from everyone else's mistakes.
shackle flip, shackles, springs for the rear, and whatever needs to be done up front, shackle hanger relocate, new springs, etc.. 86k20, it looks like you have pretty much done what I'm looking to do to. Any other hints/tips/don't do's you can add to my list? any and all help appreciated as I'm new to big modifications. |
