I do question how authentic it is. The special paint is of note.
The interior metal color (on the doors) appears to be a bronze and the exterior overpaint on the window sealing strip suggest a change of something. The predominate black inside is also incorrect. Be interestng to see this in more detail and if the SPID matches the actual tub VIN.

The Blazer & Jimmy are unique Highlanders being based on the uplevel CST trim and with bucket seats.

As a note if anyone has the feathers installation sheets I'd love to see copies.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?

The white one was a real Highlander but not a real Feathers. Not originally white, was that bronze. Previous owner documented it here a couple of years ago.

Thanks Randy!

As a note to all, this title repeates on both the Pickup and Suburban threads. The actual trim codes for the Highlander Plaid differs as are some details.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?

Tim, a buddy called me just now to tell me about his recent Blazer purchase and ask about some parts he needs. As he was telling me about it I realized it is a Highlander, '72 Blue YG8, that's all I know at the moment. I am going to see it here in the next couple days and will have more info and pics.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?

I will be seeing it soon as I have some parts for him. Should the dash pad be black, blue or parchment? The truck is blue as are the seat inserts.

The Highlander Plaid trim codes All include a black dash pad, steering column (with or without tilt) and carpet. In addition the door panels, visors, console and seat belts were always parchment (white). Seat vinyl was also parchment and the insert color is determined by the specific trim code. So the ONLY variable color keyed component was the insert color of the seatcovers.

Tim I still haven't gone over to see the one my buddy got but he's been getting parts from me and so far is gonna stay fairly true to the Highlander theme.

Everytime this thread pops up I'm drooling. Waiting on those pics as well. Haha. I would love to rebuild mine as a highlander but it still won't be by the spid.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?

Ok Tim, I still haven't gotten over to see the Highlander Blazer but it is coming along. He just got it back from paint, got the seat covers from SMS and has a few questions. It is a YG8 and has no body side moldings listed on the SPID so does that mean no moldings upper or lower? Second the mirrors are listed as 1DF210 camper stainless, are the mirrors in the pic of Dirts72 Blazer correct? Thanks for all the info, I swear I will get over to see it and take some pics. I have a pic of the SPID on my phone but I don't know how to post it.

Good questions that point out some basic differences between the Blazers and Pickups.

While the Highlander trucks upgraded the Custom Deluxe (RPO Z62) trim level, Blazers upgraded the CST (RPO Z84) trim level. As such they were the only cloth buckets offered in the utility/truck line.

Since the CST (Z84) included the Custom Moldings BX2 as part of the option, they generally would not be listed seperately on the SPID. Blazers were not available with the upper/belt molding like the trucks were.

Yes, the mirrors included with the Highlander Promo Packages were the DF2 Stainless Camper Mirrors, Just like Dirt72's.

Blazer CST RPO Z84 (mandatory option)
Avocado 680
Blue 677
Gray 671
Orange 686

Promo Package codes,
Added:
A= YG6 Plaid Trim, Special Wheelcovers C10/K5 (PA1) or Chrome Hubcaps K10/K5 (PO3), Door Edge Guards and Stainless Camper Mirrors DF2.

B= YG7 (includes A) Adds Turbo-Hydramatic Trans., Power Steering and Tilt.

C= YG8 (includes A and B) Adds A/C and Tint.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Blazer/Jimmy?

And yes this is Z84 equipped, so does that mean it should have lower molding? He is going to the Truck Shop tomorrow and wants to know if he should get moldings or not. You are a wealth of information.
