Re: fleetside backup light location

On the 66 fuse panel about 1/2 way down on the RH side there is a take off spade for the back up lights. On the 4 sp the wires that come to it are green and dark green. Running to the back of the truck is a ribbon of wires and the backup light wire is part of it.

Re: fleetside backup light location

Non factory reverse trucks were treated to a kit which ran a single separate wire to the rear.

11 o'clock position is the original 4 speed setup with the piece that goes onto the shifter ( Black Piece ) and the plated replacement for the top of the transmission that retains the shifter in the transmission. This is where the hard to find, and expensive when you find it, 4 speed reverse switch is mounted.

In the center of the picture is the 3 speed/auto switch that mounts on the column. Same as the passenger cars so easier to find.

Re: fleetside backup light location

Nice find aerotruk63.
1) Anybody know how that black actuator comes off the 4sp stick? There may be more people out there that need access to the cover for attaching a new switch bracket. I bet a lot of the bracket/switch assemblies have long since come off and been discarded.
2) I wonder if it would be possible to braze on a new one without distorting the cap or perhaps it should just be soldered? Type of solder?

A small allen set screw holds the shifter finger on.

No problem.
I am not in a rush.
Just didn't want it to fall off the radar.
Take your time.

Re: fleetside backup light location

Did anyone ever create a PDF for this? I have my backup assemblies in one hand and my drill in the other.

Re: fleetside backup light location

I made a scaled pdf and posted it Friday night so you wouldnt have to.

But I didn't redraw it, in case that is what you were planning to do.

Because I only have a 66 Fleetside Bed to check the Template with, I was only able to test this template for the Fleetside Bed.

I'm sorry I missed that.

Re: fleetside backup light location

Yours is way better, since you redrew it. I was lazy and just rescaled the one that was previously posted.
