OldGMJon, I would surmise that, since no mention of such a cable is made in the manuals, my po took a choke cable and set it up to operate the swivel gate. But that leaves me without any explanation as to how that gate was slated to function by Chevy. I should have photos of it somewhere on my computer and I will post them. I also recall, I think, that someone here on the forums was not surprised by what I have, and suggested that I check whether it is opening a heat gate. But that is what it is, and while I am not crazy about the placement of the knob, I figure I will keep it all as is.
