Re: Lets see them 67-72 Projects!
That Red C10, I like your GMC and please try to keep it. I wish mine was a driver. I sold a '72 SWB driver to build this, then my situation went south...like to Antarctica and the truck project is iced in. But I have to ask about your user name. Did you not know it's a C1500 when you registered or did you used to have a Chevy? Not bustin' on you, just wanted you to know in case you didn't.

Re: Lets see them 67-72 Projects!
Mine has a long way to go and this isn't a good picture. I got this from a neighbor who bought it in 73 or 74. It's black on black a/c, tach, tilt, posi, short box. only problem is that the body is 100% rotted out. I have had this truck tucked away for 3 years and as soon as summer gets here I'm moving it into the garage and starting its restoration, I'm leanin on med. olive green for paint. and factory stance. but I have alotta sheet metal that needs found before i get to that.

Re: Lets see them 67-72 Projects!
I was wondering if it was me or if something different was going on with your truck. At first it looked like a '68 GMC with a 71/72 grille. The hood looks like a 67/68, but never saw that with the 69-72 surround and it looks like you have 69-72 Chevy Fenders. Never seen that done and come out either. I would love to look that thing over in person to see just how they went about this

Re: Lets see them 67-72 Projects!
Nice truck man!!! And Special-K the truck is a 68 chevy c10 haha! One of the previous owners had swapped on GMC trim and all that, so thats why its like that, and i dont understand the difference in fenders.. can you elaborate?

Re: Lets see them 67-72 Projects!
What you describe is something I never thought possible. It's more complicated than just switching trim. The 69-72 GMC surround (2pcs on fender & center piece between hood and grille) was never made to go with the 67/68 hoods. It's not a simple use this instead of that. That center piece goes with the 69-72 hood because those hoods are inches shorter than 67/68. '68 Chevy fenders are the same as 68-72 GMC and 69-72 Chevy fenders are stepped down along the front edge. It looks like I see that step down over top of the trim. and, although you can use a 67/68 Chevy core support create a GMC one, it requires adding all the GMC headlight mounting. doesn't anyone else see what I'm seeing?

Re: Lets see them 67-72 Projects!
Look at the picture in post #29 and you'll see what I mean with the fenders. That's a 69-72 Chevy-only fender. It is stepped to receive the grille surround. Is yours like that or am I seeing a shadow? Those fenders are shorter, just as all 69-72 hoods are. GMC fenders didn't change and that surround trim just slips over without any step. All 67=72 GMC grilles are interchangeable, but 67/68s use a piece of body sheetmetal between the grille and hood. That 69-72 piece (commonly called a top bar) is riveted to the grille. We have seen 69-72 hood modified to be sloped like a 67/68 and I'm wondering if that's what you have. Can you see any evidence under the hood? I'm surprised I'm the only one commenting on this. This is the type of thing we like to work out here. Maybe I'm just seeing things. So, is that a step in the fenders of just a shadow?

This is Lola, my 72 lwb 5.3 build. All her rust has been repaired (cab corners, kick panels, floor, inner/outer rockers, and an insane amount in the bed corners) and we are about ready to paint her.

Been cleaning up stuff off my plate the last two weekends and I am sick of it, but finally got er dunn. Next weekend it is off to the races again on Homer. Plan to R&R the rearend, motor/trans, and maybe the entire front suspension. I have a 79 donor that has disc brakes and better rear gears (mine are 457). Possibly shoot some paint on the frame rails if I am lucky and start building it for good. Saw and accepted your friend request. Thanks. I need all the friends I can get. It's always nicer to ask a friend something that just another member at least it is for me.
