Re: Dyno's 58 GMC's Finished Pics
Thanks Beanyard. Well, I had the old bed on C/L for over a year with no takers so it went to scrap!

Re: Dyno's 58 GMC's Finished Pics
You scraped a bed that had survived 57 years, but couldn't last a year on all that open property I see in your pics??????????????? I'm sure a lot of others feel the same as I do , That is just SAD! Please post it here on the site and pay it forward next time. Or if you have any other parts you want to get rid of. I think its great you put one back on the road , I'm sure that bed would have found a happy home with a little effort. |

I was going to ask about the bed, too. I'd love to have a fleet bed. I'm in Eagle, I'll keep my eyes open for your truck.

Re: Dyno's 58 GMC's Finished Pics
I knew I would get some grief for scrapping it, but it was really rusted out. The pic shown shows the good side. Also, it was a long bed...I shortened the frame on the truck. It was completely trashed on the driver's side, bullets had rusted through all along the length of the bed.

Re: Dyno's 58 GMC's Finished Pics
I would never scrap something like that. I had to scrap some axles but that was because they were shot...ughh
anyway, beautiful GMC. I have a '59 Gmc 100

Re: Dyno's 58 GMC's Finished Pics
Give him a break. Rust can be crazy in Idaho depending on conditions. I had one of those super heavy diamond plate bumpers that was a huge eye sore and it went to the recyclers with a plan to swap it for a bumper that matches the front.

Re: Dyno's 58 GMC's Finished Pics
Thanks Idaho Bro... Actually, I sold it to some Mexicans over in Caldwell a couple years ago and I just figured it went to scrap. But you know it's probably sitting in their back yard now waiting to double their money and turn it on CL. Keep your eyes open!!!

He is my co pilot. He frequently asks for "a truck-a-ride". He is 2.5 and tries not to smile when we rev the motor. This is our other project.

Re: Dyno's 58 GMC's Finished Pics
I agree with Dan. The time we spend with our kids is invaluable. My son Dillon was 14 when we started this project 3 years ago and he helped me every step of the way. He learned some great skills by watching and doing. I'm tickled when I see him working on his own truck now. At any rate, I promised him that the '58 would be his someday.
