yea thats where it should be . either someone blocked it off or it came that way? looks like a sending unit for electric oil pressure gauge sticking out of the "adapter"after you get it cleaned up you might be able to replace it with one from another motor or ask around I know they used to sell a kit to replace canister with spin on

i guess i have to add one in. ill probably aim for the canister type. anything i should be worried about or watch for now that i know i havent had an oil filter for i dont know how long?

hey if its running ok drive the ---- out of it,change the oil a little more often,looks like maybe the frame was notched for the PTO might wanta look see if they put a brace or something in there,look at 1st picture i cant tell ;if the frame was cut it should be beefed up. on second look maybe thats the floor ?
