I'm not taking mine off and putting it back on anymore since I got a Softopper. I stored mine by putting heavy-duty anchor bolts in the roof trusses and winching it to the garage ceiling upside-down with cargo straps.

Sounds like a good plan. I want to devise a winch system in the new garage to hoist it off and up then would anchor in place with some cable wire or similar for long term ceiling storage.

I’ve been eyeing tall unistrut and trolleys as a consideration to allow some front to back motion. Figure I need some sort of rigid support side to side to mitigate and flex that might otherwise occur down midline.

Does anyone worry about the stress on the trusses? I’ve read a few places they are not designed for this type of weight. I’ve seen heavier items stored though. Maybe I’m over thinking it? This is how I’ve stored mine.

I do and added some additional support to better distribute the weight

I saw somewhere where a guy used am engine hoist/cherry picker to lift from the inside. I thought it was a great idea, but the rear hatch had to stay open. I use some masonry scaffolding.
