Thanks, I suspected as much. I have had ZERO luck finding them. Fabricating a standard mount is not a problem, I was just hoping to find the OEM type to allow the necessary flex. I will have to put some thought into my fabricated mounts......

Well, that's not a worst case by far, but uglier than I had hoped. At least there still isn't much rust.

I knew I had some DIY-ish repairs going on in the quarters.....I estimate that I removed at LEAST 2 gallons of kitty hair and mud from the passenger side quarter panel. After a couple smacks with my fist, a large pucker that was full of mud popped out.


I will still need to replace the wheel well lip and the butchered lower rear section at a minimum. Access from the inside would sure make things easier, but I'm hoping not to have to go there.

Here are the passenger side sliding window frames ready for reassembly.
I knew these fenders felt heavy....I guess the same "bodyman" worked them too. I guess the extra dirt also factored in

I picked up my glass last night and got a bit of work done today.

I do have a few more questions tho

My new glass was cut by coping replacement glass and I didn't have the latches for the sliding windows until yesterday. It looks like the latching mechanism will be binding on the edge of the glass..not good.


1. Should the sliding window have a hole or notch at the edge for latch clearance?
2. How does the latch attach? glass setting tape?
3. One of my 4 sliding windows has a glue on felt seal instead of in a crimp channel. What glue should I use, epoxy, contact cement,????

Sorry for the ignorance, I have read a lot of threads, but I don't recall anything on these items. Thanks in advance!

Woo Hoo I finally got an uninterrupted shop day...no appointments no emergency phone calls, I never even left the compound!

I got a good start on the radiator support repairs, knackered mounts removed from the frame, and started some battery box maintenance.

It ain't pretty but it's gonna work

I did the same thing to my radiator support on the passenger side just patched it up...good as new...can't be seen but now It's bolted securely down...

Well, I needed to peel the "chin" off of my hood for rust repairs. It was worse than I thought, BUMMER.
I will order a replacement chin piece, but the inner support must be patched. I will wait for the patch panel before rebuilding the corners of the brace.
I need to be sure it all fits together.

I finally got back to the burb, and my air compressor kicked the bucket.

I did get a few things going. Is the heavy connector plate on the bottom of the rocker/quarter junction normal?

How about the quarter being spot welded and stitch welded at the jam?

I swear the bozo's that painted this thing last must buy body filler in 5 gallon buckets!

Yes the reinforcement plate across the rocker and quarter seam is original. I don't recall any stitch welds in the jamb though.

Thank you. I didn't think the rocker had ever been changed, but the plate just looked cobbled on. It has clearly been there a long time.

I will post better pics of the odd looking welds when the air compressor parts show up and I can clean the seam better. It almost looks double layered, but the spot welds look right and the rocker looked original as well.

WOW our making some headway, my hood was toast it was rotted at the rear corners and the inside panel was rusted really bad someone at one time had tried to patch it up and it looked horrible I got lucky a found a rust free hood for 200.00 bucks couldn't beat that price. It's always interesting to see what some previous owners have done to patch things up, my old 70 Burb 4x4 the lower panels were rusted through and they had just crammed newspaper in there and then bondo over it.. All that does is just create moisture when it gets wet and causes it to rust even more...anywho patch it up paint it up and go on..

Thanks Randy. WOW $200 is a great find for a rust free hood. I didn't look too hard, the few I found still needed repairs and were priced more than I wanted to pay.

We did some mud er up and paint jobs for used car lots in my dad's shop when I was a kid....WOW that was almost 40 years ago, and before my dad became a resto only shop. Hey, we had to eat somehow

These days, I will drive a truck with rust holes before I will mud them up and make it worse!

The more I cut the more hidden holes I find.

Oh Well cut-grind-scribe-grind-repeat....soon I'll be able to get the welder out.

Does anyone have a picture of what the box inside the quarter panel/rocker junction should look like? If not I will just close it in before I start tacking the floor back in.

I already have to repair the rear floor brace, so I can add in whatever is needed.
