Re: 4l80 and headers?

Thy-323y-c are the headers I have with the interference I mentioned above
I actually wanted the floor shift originally but decided to try to save some money with column shift.

Re: 4l80 and headers?

I did some searching and another member posted a exit photo of his 323's on a 6l80e. Not sure if the 4l80E is as wide as the 6l80E

Tony, do your headers exit at the same angle?

Thumbs up Re: 4l80 and headers?

The transmission is a 4l80e in my truck. Here is the link for the headers.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 4l80 and headers?

I'll see if I can get a good shot of where they exit in the next day or two.

re-looking at that pic, its exactly like mine was, ie the rod but I had mine installed differently, I hade mine reversed, ie the set screw piece was at the trans and again, I had to install all the trans side of the rod stuff before the headers. I remember that being a PITA b/c I had the headers all on and thought I would not have to move them but there was no way to get the trans stuff set up. And Again, I could only pull the shifter down to 3rd without interfering with header and not allow it to go any further.
Even the cable style will have to be attached to the trans before header is in place, there just is no room with the exit location of the header.

Re: 4l80 and headers?

This is how I take care of the "fitting headers with a 4L80E" problem. lol

Re: 4l80 and headers?

I had pacesetter TBSS headers on mine and they fit fine with the ear trimmed and a Lokar linkage kit.
Wasted's solution is the better idea though.

Re: 4l80 and headers?

Does anybody have any experience running the new Camaro exhaust manifold with a 4L80e

Seems like the cheaper route at the moment

Re: 4l80 and headers?

I'm not sure how much performance is lost when going with exhaust manifolds over headers? Is it is noticeable difference?

I have found some camaro exhaust manifold take offs for $125 shipped. For anyone wondering they are GM part number:
RH side 12611639
LH side 12611638

Here are some pictures I found of them mounted to someone else LS style motor. Do they look like they will work?

Re: 4l80 and headers?

if there was nothing to be gained the manufactures would not be making them.

All depends on the setup. What are your mods, and your goals? If you don't at least have a cam, I'd say you're not leaving much on the table with stock manifolds.
