Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
I used two of these back to back with success. I'm not exactly sure on the size but I had them laying around in my garage.

Well they are important because they were originally there, when the truck was built, which means they served a purpose. Once the bushings are no longer present, the door will be hard to close. Slamming the door seems to be the only way they will close tight.

Keeps everything lined up... but mostly -- makes the doors close easily. Until i replaced mine, you had to slam them go get them to latch all the way... put on the pex pipe and it closes like a brand new door. |

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
My bolts were so worn that the doors wouldnt latch all the way even if the doors were slammed. I could have sworn replacing the bushings wasnt going to do anything. Best thing I've done to the truck since I got it.

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
The door latch is specifically designed to latch around the striker bushing, and hold the door closed around it. Let's stay that bushing is 0.100 inch thick, it stands to reason you would then need to close the door 0.100 further to get the door to "latch", and even when it does, it will now wiggle 0.100 more than it used to, which could allow rattling, or wind and noise to seep through the weatherstripping around the door.

Same here, never would have thought it would make that much of a difference, but it did.

Re: Door striker plastic bushings, what are you using?
I hate to sound like a teenage school girl that just left the mall, but OMG..........
my truck didn't have bushings on the striker and I installed them this weekend after reading these posts. It's always looked like a quality piece, but now the doors shut like it. The difference is amazing. |
